Cosplayer Photoshoot! (Cameras / Cosplayers)

Wow, would not give me room to type "Photographer."
So here's the deal, as with every year, but posted for all new and old. Please respond to the post if you are a cosplayer OR photographer and also consider this the questions and updates thread on the gathering for the photoshoot. DAY ONE (October 21st): We will be meeting exactly 1.5 hours prior to the time the cosplayers must be back behind stage for the contest ceremony. As of now the time has not been announce--HOWEVER it is usually around 4:30pm they need them backstage so aim around 3-3:30 as an idea. We will meet outside of the convention at the fountain for photogrpahers and cosplayers a like. Here's the usual setup: -We will start the shoot as a group shot and this will be a good portion of the the session. (Please DO NOT ask cosplayers to break away from the group at this time for individual photos, you will get your chance soon--I promise.) -After group shots the cosplayers will then separate and photographers are welcome to approach cosplayers of small group or individual shots. IMPORTANT: When Pocket says time is up, TIME IS UP. Some cosplayers will not be entering the contest and will be willing to stay for extra photos--BUT those entering the contest will need to leave. Please respect their time (as it takes a while to lumber to the stage in costume) and do not pause contest cosplayers on their way out. Other things to consider: DO NOT TOUCH the costumes or the props unless you politely ask the cosplayer first. Many costumes are fragile and you do not want to be responsible for breakage. Also give the cosplayers SPACE. They are already confined in their costumes and some have visual restriction. Please make them aware where you are and that you are taking their picture so they can pose for you. (I plan to add a Cosplayer what-to-do list to the forums soon) DAY TWO (October 22): There is a cosplay burlesque group currently gathering for this day. I have offered another group photoshoot for this--HOWEVER if you plan to have a day two costume you are welcome to gather here. The photoshoot will be once more at the fountain. Looking at tentatively 2 PM (words from the Boss!) (More on this photo shoot later.) |

I feel really silly for asking, but I'm new to cosplay and I'm not quite sure I understand the term "burlesque". I mean.. I know what the word means, but I just don't wanna be wrong if I have a cosplay that I think is "burlesque" when it's not. XD Noob-thanks in advance for clarification!

It refers to the style of dress when doing burlesque. There are a lot of images around, as well as tutorials for making simple skirts for it. I didn't know what it meant either and had to look it up. It was really easy to find info about it as it's been getting more popular lately.
Checking in as a cosplayer. I can't wait to see everyone at the fountain again this year! |

I'm cosplaying both days (with one other, as a pair of DKs), and very interested in getting pictures taken!
One suggestion I'll make as a cosplayer, is that I have cheapie "business" cards made with my name, cosplays, email, devArt, and flickr for trading with people. It helps for sharing pics and watching what other people are doing with cosplay between cons. ^_^ |
I'll be there in my tier 9 for sure, and will likely be dragging the hubster (as Nozdormu) along too (unless there's some important panel he MUST attend).
I'll be costuming both days and I'll probably bring a DSLR too!
Checking in as a cosplayer here! :D Day 1, i'll be in my Moira costume, and if money allows, i'll be in my burlesque murloc for day 2! :D

Ill be there.. yup.. both days.. with 1 in tow.
RAWR! |
Cosplayer, and photographer, will have camera with me, and will post pictures to my Flickr account when the time comes
I will at least be there With my camera and hubby will have his too. I think the Business Card Idea is wonderful. Not only so you guys can see your pictures but you can also make friendships that hopefully last along time. I can't wait ^^ Just 36 more days.

I will make sure to be there! I love seeing other people's costumes and it'll be fun to run around with everyone else in my own. I'll be the short one with the gigantic Sulferas :p
Day two I am participating in the burlesque group as Tarecgosa and her staff ^-^~ Also, I do chibi art so if people want business cards I can do little bits of artwork that you can put on a card and print out. http://www.trolltails.com/ (Go to Project Chibi for the sketch shop for examples of my work) |

Glad to hear everyone's response. Still waiting on the final email that announces stage times and etc. Then we can see when to meet at the fountain. Just look for me, the bright green goblin with a mohawk--and you'll know you're in the right spot. :D

In 2009 I was too late to get in on the group photos, don't want to miss it this time! |

How's everyone doing? Excited? Freaking out? Looking purty?
