I've been a loyal Blizzcon attendee for the past four Blizzcons but it wasn't until just now that I realized I cannot find or don't know if Blizzcon itself has a harassment policy. I haven't even found a code of conduct for the con itself - just the general Blizzcon forums.
Would it be possible for Blizzcon/Blizzard to enact something like this? I bring it up because there's been a spate of reported sexual assault and harassment problems at other big conventions (E3, Pax, and now SDCC) and I would feel a lot safer if Blizzcon had or did the same. I'm a female gamer and I've attended Blizzcon even with the threat of stalkers looming, but never was aware if I would be protected if something did happen on premises. I know Blizzcon has security guards but having ironclad company protection would go a long way to making those of us who are attending feel assured that Blizzard cares about the safety and well-being of all the con-goers.
John Scalzi, a noted geek author, actually wrote a blog post about why these things are important that cons have one:
Some examples of such that Scalzi listed:
If Blizzcon DOES have these policies in place, would anyone kindly direct me to them? Or least a plea here to post them a lot more centrally and in an easy-to-spot and refer-to fashion?
