Diablo III™

The Most Valued Forum Posters

It's been quite a while since we've shared information regarding our forum MVP program. If you frequent Blizzard forums you've no doubt seen jade text stamped across threads here and there. Those with the power to wield green words are regular players -- just like you -- who've been recognized for their contributions to the forums in one way or another. And since we want to provide these player advocates with the resources they need to continue being awesome posters, MVPs have direct lines of contact with Blizzard community managers.

Now the time has come to bolster the MVP ranks. Those chosen for the program aren't official representatives of Blizzard, and they don't have to agree with every decision we make. They also aren't expected to give up their posting personas in order to join. Our goal is to find frequent posters who are a positive influence on the gaming community in some form, whether it be through posting strategy guides or tips on various aspects of gameplay, or even just bringing a positive and constructive tone to the forums when socializing with their peers.

If you or someone you know fits the description of a Most Valuable Poster as laid out in the MVP FAQ, email us at MVPs@Blizzard.com. We select MVPs based on a large set of criteria, so don't be discouraged from putting your name out there if you only post on, say, the Protoss Discussion or DPS Class Role forums. MVPs are welcome to post wherever they're comfortable, including across the Diablo III, StarCraft II, and World of Warcraft forums.

But remember! The key to being a strong candidate is having a solid posting history. We're always on the lookout for the next shining beacon of good within the community to join the illustrious ranks of our MVPs.

Want to know more about how a Blizzard MVP operates? World of Warcraft MVP Eldacar recently spoke with WoW Insider in this behind-the-scenes interview.

It all makes sense now why those select few weren't mad that they didn't get a beta invite or that they are perfectly fine with the game coming out in 2014. They were planning on getting chosen for MVP! Posts such as, "You're doing great Blizzard, keep it up!" and "Don't listen to these crybabies that want a beta invite." I bet that person posted the comment, then got on his beta account and played some more... sigh...

P.S. Blizz, I will no longer make posts like this and I promise to say "Blizzard is the greatest developer of all time." 5x a day for the next 3 years in every thread if you send me a beta invite. Thanks.

@DarthVader: Some people tell blizzard they are great because they really think that way. if they also do it for a few extra + internets i guess thats just them. When i think of having Mvp i think of the people that would look foward to seeing what i have to say. And i would feel so honored to carry the green text that i would make it habbit to post only importaint useful information,, with occasional humorous remarks. well having said that. BLIZZARDS THE GREATEST!!!!!

Okay is there a spectrum analysis of preferred posters. I am noticing the colors of all the posters and trying to decipher some code that might not exist.

So basically the MVP could be any average joe who just loves the games and is very knowledgeable about the game as well. Heh, sounds good.

@Gabtraf: I guess being knowledgeable about the game would be a key factor, but how you introduce the information may also be a factor as well. Like if you knew some really nice info but told it like a hot headed, snob , insulting everyone around like they were idiots,, then i would rather just,,,, not even know the answer and look elsewhere.

It's cool to see that in 2012 an MVP system isn't automated. Why not just promote people that consistently have highly-rated posts, for example.

@Apples: This is a very constructive post and it is refreshing to see that now days. That being said I really don't think that would work and here is why.

There will be people out there that want to feel special and will go to everyone they know to use there IP to up there rating. I know its sad but it can happen and will happen. Now there are ways to detect this, but I don't feel Blizzard wants to police this kind of stuff or to divert resources from other areas to do so. What do think?

After all that is said and done... it's just more smoke and mirrors to distract us from the fact that Blizzard doesn't keep their word.

D3 is still not here.

I'm getting tired of WoW.

Make a MMORPG in the Starcraft universe. I would be all over that.

AND GET D3 OUT YOU SLACKERS!

This is a good idea on the face of it and I applaud your efforts to return the forums to some kind of positive experience, but at its current state of mass melt down, its going to take more than just this. The forums for the most part now days are breading ground for for rumor and flame feasts. There are a few good threads out there but not worth the time it takes to wade through the trash to get to. I truly hope that revitalizing this program will help, but on the other hand it cant hurt.

@Randaull: Ya well when someone says there will be a game release for summer of 2011 then they actually release it in summer of 2012 then we all have quite a bit to flame about now don't we!!!! And yes I will NEVER forget D3 was delayed by 1 YEAR!

@Jekyll: I do sympothize with you here, I too have been looking forward to this release in what seems like forever. And that was my point the fourms are so inadated with threads of dissapointment and such I dont belive this program can overcome this as far as the Diablo 3 forums go. But I wish them well in there atempt. A positive and productive forum is what we all would like. But as you said and I concur, there is been too much back peddeling as far as D3 go's and pepole are not going to forget.

I love the fact that Blizzard is trying to do something nice, by recognizing people that take the time to post mostly helpful information or advice. And now over half the community is flaming them. Can win for losing.
Probably is the same people that see a person giving a kid a candy and saying "Look it's a !@#$%^-*!. He is luring that kid. Call the cops...Where is my beta key. Where is the release date. Blizzard sucks..Oh that was his dad...."

Waiting is overrated; best to find the best available game already released. I have been playing the beta for a few days, 3 character classes. The game is so underwhelming that I am glad to have been invited to the beta because I will surely not be wasting 60$ to buy the game when it is release in a year or two. It does not have stategic zoom, the sound effects are indistinct, the music is for an elevator, the storyline within the limits of the beta is uninspiring, the graphic are poor, really, in this way: the use of 3d is already so dated as to be laughable, and it is completely unimpressive to me. I have a geforce590 card and a 30inch HP monitor, which plays other dx11 games with actually exciting richness of detail, while this thing, this DIII game is pathetic in comparison. What is going on? I have been waiting for so long. I have played my heart out on every diablo clone since DII, waiting for this game, THIS game. Now I am, gosh, playing the beta of DIII for real and I am grimacing all the time because it is not great, not at all captivating or inspiring or moving. There is no horror to the game. No grief in the characterizations or the artwork or the monsters. This is a cartoon at best, not even a good comic or graphic novel. I am disappointed, obviously, so I will stop now because I am so bored already playing the beta that I cannot finish more than one character class. I finished with a barb, started with a monk and a wizard but stopped out of boredom. I am sick. Take that how you wish. These are passionate statements from a lover of Diablo who is sick with disappointment.

@D3BETA: Blizz needs too actually read posts like these and figure out why it is a Diablo fan doesn't enjoy this game. yet people after 12 years will still play d2. blizz needs to talk with the people who are testing the game and figure out what they can change.
