Blizzard Cinematics Wins Award for "The Black Soulstone"

The Visual Effects Society has announced the winners of its 10th Annual VES Awards, which recognizes outstanding visual effects artistry in 23 categories of film, animation, television, commercials, special venues, and video games.

The Blizzard Cinematics team won the "Outstanding Visual Effects in an Animated Commercial or Video Game Trailer" award for the Diablo III: The Black Soulstone video, which was presented to Nick Carpenter, VP of art & cinematic development; Jon Lanz, VFX supervisor; Chris Thunig, 2D art director; and Taka Yasuda, producer.

Blizzard simply OWNS the ability for cinematics. Not just cinematics, as all of Blizzard's games are best-sellers

blizzard has been nailing cinematics as long as final fantasy has been. their art team probably has shelves full of awards but this one in particular proves who has the biggest peniles

They actually did too well. There are a couple of times when looking at Leah when it kinda looks real. "Outstanding job" is an understatement. "Made an invented game look like it was filmed and not made of CGI" is more like it. (Terrifyingly close anyway....)

GREAT trailer. Anyone who says otherwise, well.......this game OBVIOUSLY isn't for you. For the majority of us who were very impressed, it has given me a renewed interest in a game that I had lost interest in due to not getting a beta yet (WTF Blizz???) and SWTOR coming out before Diablo III. Incredible trailer. Very cinematic. Wished there were another 90 minutes of it. Like a Movie.
