Knowing your peers 6 - Meet and Greet

There's a meet and greet thread in every class forum, so why not here too :>

Don't hesitate to be a little more specific. Me first :>

Ricky
34yo
Sydney, Australia

I work in Australia's second largest Telco doing Corporate Credit Management. I love Brain Teaser and Math puzzles almost as much as D3. My age puts me in Generation X, which means I grew up playing with:
- Football cards with that stick of gum in each pack (1985)
- Ninja Turtles (1990)
- Basketball cards (1994)
- Magic the Gathering (1994-2011)
- David Copperfield, Bruce Lee, Michael Jackson, Jet Li ....etc all meant something back in the day (and even now)....I ask kids these days and they dont know who Samuel L. Jackson is. It's really sad how people have become so dependent on ipads/iphones/technology, that playing handball and brandings at school is a lost art.

Just taken 2 days ago, with my baby girl.

whangarei NZ Pretty much the ghetto :P

Work as an industrial electrician at a cement plant (if any of you auzzies have a decent industrial electrician job lying around i'd be more than interested)

Play d3 when i get the chance or GTA5 on the xbox i borrowed off my apprentice. Remember playing d1 back in the day along with command and conquer and the original warcraft

When i'm not on the computer i am probably hanging with my wife and 4 kiddies or out slaying snapper or kingfish on my boat.

Oh and Ryoka, if anyone doesn't know who Samuel L Jackson is they need a swift kick where it hurts.

Casual gamer. I grew up playing games like Doom, Half-Life, D2, a few Command&Conquer titles. Didn't get to play D1, unfortunately.

Full time tradie panel beater which severely inhibits my diablo3 time.
Also father of two boys which doesn't help with time either.
I remember the basketball trading cards and the horrendous chewing gum in them too.

Graham, 45, from Auckland.

I work as a software architect in the city. When I'm not doing that, I'm at the gym, or walking, or some sort of exercise. When I'm not doing that, I'm playing D3. I've always liked gaming, but this is the first one where I've bothered to learn about the gearing and playstyles to any level of detail.

I know who Samuel L Jackson is. I don't feel old until I realise that kids today don't know that sort of thing, and have never been without a computer or cellphone etc.

Edit: DRASTIKNZ I sent you an FB friend request. It's a pity you can't put a message on the requests, 'cos you're probably going to wonder where it came from.

Nick 36 yrs young from Hervey Bay QLD

I am an accounts manager for a regional fuel distribution (bulk) / service station (retail) business.

Aside from work - and playing with my boys (6 and 18months) and wifey, I play soccer, go to gym and with what time is left - play Diablo3 when the wife needs some space.

I have been a gamer since the age of 7? when we got our first Commodore 64 and have played ever since...

Samuel L Jackson should never have made snakes on a plane... but is such a quotable S.O.B

I think I saw an interview about it to that effect...

Transcript from an interview on said movie trawled off the net...
"I read the script, and—I guess the Internet rumor is that I took the job without reading the script. It's sort of true, but not in the way they said. I didn't receive the script, see the title, and go "Snakes On A Plane, wow, I'll do it," and throw it away. I was reading the trades, and it said "Ronny Yu to direct Snakes," and I was like, "What is that?" Ronny and I had done a film together [The 51st State], so I emailed him and said "What is it?" And he said, "Poisonous snakes get loose on an airplane." And I'm like, "Wow, think I can be in that?" And he was like, "You really want to be in it?" And I said "Yes, I really want to be in it." So, here I am. He's not, but here I am, so it's cool. "

Ok

Chris from Newcastle NSW. Married with five kids and to two grandchildren.

I work as a Systems Administrator within the mining industry. Specialise in 3D Virtual Reality training and get to play with some very expensive toys.

Have played games since I can remember. Built my first PC as a Electronics trades apprentice way back in 1981-2, so long ago. For those of you who remember these, it was a Microbee 16k kit computer.

Can remember when apps were 20k in size and hard disk were not even thought of. A floppy was eight inches square with a massive storage capacity of 360kb.

I am totally obsessed with technology and what it will bring to our kids future.

Hold a Masters Degree current CCNA, MSCE 2003, 2008 and 2012.

And yes Ryo still a 2yo mentally.
