Diablo® III

(Not) picking up the garbage

This is mostly for people that are killing big packs of mobs and they aren't all dying at once. Even when you have the option to only see item names when you hit the Alt key, in the fray of spam clicking on monsters, you still end up picking up a bunch random greys/whites/blues/yellows that you didn't want. So what do you do about it?

A) Just drop stuff while you're channeling town portal

B) Bind your main attack to a different button besides(or in conjunction with) left mouse click

C) Cookie cutter variants are soooo 2012

D) Other?

I don't pick up anything.

It's all crap anyway including legendary.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

I wished I could do this, but I'm not a po' monk again, and I need to pick up stuff to fund upgrades to my WD... and I refuse to AH flip for income. :(

I do this a lot. But this only happens at the end of a run, and doesn't help when I'm trying to pick up potentially valuable items and running out of space.

The problem is that I often can't even see what I want to pick up because I need to pick up a bunch of rares, blues or whites to get to the legendary that drops. I end up having to drop stuff at random times during the run.

But mostly, I ignore vast majority of the stuff that drops anyway. With the exception of Doom Hammers, select weapons, amulets, rings and gloves... I try to avoid picking anything up. In fact, if I am the lead monk in a group, I don't even know what drops because my focus is on getting to the next pack and gathering for my group.

I pick up an identify most rares because any characters that I play other than my main do not use the AH for gear - just items I find and craft, and hand-me-downs that I don't sell. So picking up stuff works for me. Blues I accidentally pick up generally become crafted bracers eventually.

So, my solution is rather than avoiding picking stuff up, look for a reason to pick stuff up.

I'm used to running around, hit W to open up my inventory, and mass drop trash as I'm heading to the next cluster of mobs.

I'm also used to semi-trolling party members by dropping Andariel's Brimstones, Pus Brimstones, and Brimstones of Glory during the middle of fights, so it's not very difficult for me to drop unwanted items like blues and whites.

When the developers talk about less loot and higher quality loot dropping, I hope they go more than 50%.

I want 90+% fewer items on the ground and items that are better.

Rummaging through trash to find the leg at the bottom is not fun.

Especially when you end up dying trying to pick up that stupid legendary item. It's gotta be the most ridiculous ways to die in this game.

Crypt Run

Teammate: "Where's our Cyclone? We need Cyclone!"

Me (several screens back): "Hold on, I swear I saw a Manticore in here."

Teammate: "Hurry up, there's a big group here."

Me: "Almost done" (picks up 5 blues, 2 whites, a pair of rare boots) "Got it—Never mind, it was a Hellrack."

Oh, wait, I think there was a rare Darkblade in there, too! And a Demonic Essence. Rummage, rummage, rummage. Teammates on the other end of the dungeon.

Every time! I hates >.<

My brain thinks it has to be a Mempo or Nat ring and I have to dig. It's invariably another Dawn/Hellrack! Argh!!!

This also happens to be the best trolling opportunity. Need to drop the leg early to ensure sufficient burial!
