Farming DE's...mp9 or mp10?

All off the top of the dome piece here but if memory serves:

The difference in chances of DE's dropping between mp9 and mp10 < 3.25%...

The difference in HP between monsters in mp9 vs mp10 is _____<-that's your job cuz I dunno :(

I'm suspecting that the difference in HP vs chance in drop rate would make mp9 the real place to farm DE's from a time perspective.

thoughts.

Not much in the way of Wiz scores there, but here's one in particular that stands out and it's on MP9 http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/8568378716?page=11#204

7. (No, I'm not kidding)

Notice that Avoid's wizard is bats--- insane and he's still only doing MP9.

I think it was in the barb forums that said a 300k+ Leaping Barb in VOTA was most efficiently farming mp7 because of the rate per hour outweighed the reduction to drop rate.

I would think similar is true for a SNS wiz.. Solo play.

When I was running my old chants setup I was pulling around 10-15% better de rates on mp8 as opposed to mp 10

Should try now actually

I know solo, most monks do mp6 most efficiently. But a lot of that has to do with tempest rushing around makes it hard to gear for higher (solo DEs that's the build I use.)

But as you pointed out, the drop rates doesn't go up much, but the difficulty does.

Drop rate is exactly 10% higher on each MP.
With monk you pick mp where you can kill elites most of the time in 3 seconds for the duration of Blind. Monks move about 50% faster than wiz so maybe something longer.

Reduced legendaries, though. I've had some really solid drops farming VOTA over the last two weeks.

So, if my math is not utterly awful...

MP9 to MP10 monster have roughly 40% more HP, and have a 3.5% better droprate.

I usually farm DEs on MP8, but I'd say there is almost no way MP10 would be more lucrative for DEs than MP9.

By looking at the chart, I venture to say mp8 looks the most appealing for DE.

I was thinking about this in terms of killing 100 elites. MP9 would give you 35.36 ess and MP10 would give you 38.9 ess. So every time you kill 100 elites, you'll get exactly 3.5 more ess on 10 vs. 9. All, I'm saying is you gotta be pulling some GC Boozor type VotA times to make 10 more efficient.

I freaking hate MP10 though. That damn bonus item from whites is so freaking annoying. If 4 person MP10 wasn't completely IMBA compared to anything else you can do XP-wise, I wouldn't even run it because I kinda like to be able to pick up stuff like DEs and darkblades and such. I'd spend most of my time solo facerolling MP7-8 where at least most of your drops fit on the screen.

Yes. Look at the chart, mp0 is 15%, mp1 is 16.5%. 16.5 is 10% higher than 15. The trend continues.

Yeah, 8 is a good option. It all depends where your gear is at though. If you are talking about solo, the best MP for DEs is going to be the highest one where you down elites quickly. Yeah, I know I sound like capt obvious there.

Best way is to time #elites/hour on your preferred run for various MPs, multiply that by DE chance for that MP /100 and that's the number of theoretical DEs you got. Melky's sitting on 300 juicy k's of deeps, so it totally could be MP9 for him.

Yeah, depends on how well your DPS and survivability work on any given MP. If Melk can melt MP9 on 300k dps, than 40% more dps (420k or so dps) with the survivability would make MP10 a better bet.

So obviously the answer, Melkor, is to aim for an even more ridiculous over-the-top powerful character and do MP10.

What?

For CM wizards, the max DE/hour is the lowest MP at which you don't run out of arcane power while teleporting around VoA seeking elites.

The more dps you have, the higher the MP you're forced to run at to ensure that the mobs live through the duration of the twisters you drop while teleporting around (so as to get the max number of crits per twister you drop.)

The table clearly shows that the maximum of DE_drop_rate/monster_health occurs at MP0.

You receive 10% more DE per elite kill on MP10 than MP9.
Monsters have 40% more HP on MP10 than MP9.

If less than 1/4 of your play time is spent DPSing elites, you will receive more DE on MP10 than on MP9.
If less than 3/4 of your play time is spent running around or searching for elites, you will receive more DE on the lower MP.

It is a delicate balance. You want 2 things, low enough DPS to constantly have twisters on mobs so you can teleport endlessly, and high enough DPS to take down elites as quickly as possible. Best would probably be some overly complicated setup like swapping to a 20% IAS white dagger for twisters on mobs, and then a super-high dps weapon to fight elites.

Haha, and yes the table clearly shows that MP0 is the best rate. If only there were infinite elites in every game, and they all spawned on top of your character in an endless cycle.

I was talking to melkor and doing some test runs on mp8.

It was not a good time.

1) ran out of arcane power many times
2) lose my life sustain because things die too fast.

Mp9 was good though
