Diablo® III

Gathering data for an MP10 Wizard

Well dammit I ran all of them at every chance I got to sneak away to the computer, but there were some shrines in there.

idk if I'll do them again soon, maybe I will, maybe I won't, depends on how the weekend shapes up.

I did azmodan, but I'm not going to do any of the other bosses, ever, not even at gunpoint. I would choose death.

I'll post youtube links when they're done uploading.

1. Cookie cutter archon
2. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#bYmSjO!gWY!cYccaZ
3. 358k DPS, 476k EHP, 87.4% mit, 2.2% LS fully unbuffed (no passives)
4. http://d3up.com/b/1112483
7. Scoundrel with buriza and cold tal's ammy.
8 ~100ms

1. FoM 0 deaths
http://youtu.be/be6p6tDRORI

2. Desolate sands: 1 death
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u__7mo0mso

3. VotA: 2 deaths (This really, really was no fun)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLC11jmrRy0

4. Kulle: No.

5. FoS: 0 deaths
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkXmQyiPGYM

6. SB: No.

7. Core of Arreat: 0 deaths, time 1:56

8. Azmodan: Too many deaths to count, time 8:16 (did I mention fun?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pj2SNX6fNT4

9. Spire 1: 0 (Unique monster is in there about 1:20 in) I'll do another one without shrine eventually
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tog6JHa8P4s

P.S. It goes without saying that I'm completely undergeared for solo MP10 archon, and yet I still completed everything but the boss fights rather acceptably. If it were Jaetch or Peterbiz, things would have looked a lot different. Proof enough that archon wizards are capable of doing MP10?

And that, followed by 2 hours of comically pitiful attempts to carry kiza through the same.

I'm sorry for keeping you bud, if you want to continue with the others tomorrow (today) with the method you came up with I'm game. I'll put the a4 run up after I get up.

I ran with silverfire last night.

The first thing I have to say is that testing the numbers with Archon is a bit hard. Usually, I would just watch the wizard play and they would get around the same results. So if Sal (SNS) said he died 1 time in VoTA and if we ran together, he died 2 times, that's understandable. But if the numbers are off, I get suspicious. The quote I use is "try not to be the wizard that put in 0 deaths and get killed twice when challenged." The way that we validate numbers here is (1) me watching you in a run and (2) comparing your numbers with other similar gear wizards with the same build.

With silverfire, the results were off, really off. On Act4, silverfire said 0 deaths. He couldn't pass Leah's ghost (first monster) after 8 deaths. I intervened and killed it for him. Then another 10 deaths followed and we were still at the first part of the map. The monster health is probably the issue, so we switched to MP9, new game, for much less health and dmg. He died 8 more times and we were still on the first section of the map. I told him to stop. We did FoS in Act3. He said he died 0 times there. When we ran, he died 10 times before I told him to stop again.

In the second phase, I'll ask a few Archons to give me some numbers and see what they get. I said "Archons are hard to test" because he could very well have had 0 deaths in Act4 with just him playing. I believe for Archons, it's a "hit or miss" deal with monster health, if that makes sense. So for now, hang tight. We'll get to the bottom of this.

Great results. It will be hard to beat this record!

Mnk, you did fine. If I played Archon, it would have been horrible.

I have one small correction. My azmo time is 35.5 sec, not 45.5 sec.

Nice necro

this moba jerk is gng around necro-ing and posting his SNS with GC "discovery" and even giving it his own name. whats up? LOL

I asked moba to do the test because it's made exactly for what he's trying to do: prove a wizard build in MP10. This is an ongoing test, so there's no necro-ing. When ptr/ros comes out, we can perform something similar, but ofc, with different maps.

We hit a lag issue tonight. The GC build is different enough from the vanilla SNS build, so I was interested in the results. Enremeit has a close build, but he has higher mit, lower health, and uses shards over crystal. He's also getting less recovery since his dps is lower. How does all that perform? Not sure, but we'll soon find out.

Hiya, all.

If there's a Necromancer in D3, you can bet that I'll play that character class. ; )

Kiza,

Just curious - how do you judge the efficiency of:

A person running a build that is not SNS vs SNS? Genuinely curious. I'm saying, since the gear is different for each build, wouldn't the best comparison be two gear sets at the same DPS to judge efficiency and then just compare death count?

Here's my reason for asking.

I once made a build I referred to as SNB (ShockNadoBlood) whereas I had zero life return of any sort on any gear. I swapped Diamond Skin for Blood Magic.

Now, in order to do this, I simply took the 3 slots that had LoH (tripox+loh , triflection + Loh, and BT pants) and replaced them with pure dps versions (triflection + int/vit & Quadpox+ Depth Diggers) The end result was that I had a tDPS output that was higher than my tDPS of my SNS build and gearset. Sheet dps went up over 50,000, minimal to no deaths. So do I get to then make the claim (if tested, recorded, proven) that SNB is better (as in more efficient) than SnS? I could never figure out a fair answer to that question. Because even when I presented the build to the forum, the knee jerk reaction was that SNB could never outshine SNS - and of course I felt that this claim was based on like for like gear. But you can't run SNS with SNB gear. So...uch I don't get it. What is your opinion?

Those are the type of builds that I actually want to see here. Let's say you have a build that has slightly less survival, but dishes out a lot more dps than SNS, then great. Show the results and people can decide for themselves if the tradeoff is worth it or not. The test just gathers data and doesn't really say one build is better than the other. Rather, it leaves that up to each person because "best" can mean different things to different people, whether that category is cost, acts played, death comfort, and/or dps.

How I envisioned people using this is as such: Let's say a person looks at the spreadsheet and thinks, ok, I don't do Act2, Act4, and I don't do bosses. I just do 80% act1 and 20% act3. Then they look at the death counts and edps output from Act1/3 and see which builds they like. Maybe they don't like SNS? Take that off the list and just filter through. Maybe they find one build they like, try it out and notice they are dying a lot more than the person on the spreadsheet. They can go through their stat and figure out why. And that's just one of many ways to use it.

But keep all those good ideas in mind. I'm reviewing data here and trying to get ideas on a new series of tests for RoS once we can link our profile/gear. It should be a simpler test than this one.
