Diablo® III

Lag issues.

I have two nearly identical computers, one has a quad core the other has six cores. We have DSL connection. I get about 3mbps on the connection. One computer gets zero lag, around 100-120ms. The other computer gets pings around there but then it spikes upwards of 1700. We can play other games at the same time. We play GW2 at the same time with little or no lag. Is there any reason this computer would be having lag issues and the other wouldn't? Even when we aren't playing together the 6 core machine has these lag spikes.

Here is the pathping and tracert from the computer having issues.

You're getting packet loss all over the place. It's surprising the other computer is functioning without issue.

On the computer that is having trouble I would replicate any network card settings from the working computer (checksum offloading, Large send offload, TCP/UDP Offload, etc).

Directions: Control Panel>Hardware and Sound> Device Manager> Network Adapters >Right Click, choose properties> Advanced Tab

You will see a list of properties, every one you highlight should pull up a "values" tab to the right. Match the values from the working PC to the one that's having issues. Hit ok, restart computer, run the pathping again.

If that doesn't work make sure the network adapter has updated drivers/firmware.

My only other guess is that because you're on a DSL connection the router may be prioritizing one PC's traffic/bandwidth over the other. @ my parents house they have DSL and the more computers/connections they load up on to it, the worse it performs (especially with gaming).

Ill get on the other computer and run the ping and trace. I will check the settings but they should be the same. I set both of them up the same and have updated both. They have the same mother board, just different processors.
