Set bonus temporarily disabled.
Edit: August 26, 2014 a.k.a. Day 5 of the DDoS Siege a.k.a. PATCH DAY a.k.a. the day Firebird's Finery goes from zero to hero, from "meh, maybe use 2 pieces for the int or 4 pieces as a free life in HC" to "B.I. to tha S."
We now know a lot about this set. This set has been buffed considerably since this thread was written on Feb 1, 2014.
It now does fire damage equivalent to the fire damage you just dealt, but spread out over 3 seconds. Once this DoT has reached its max potential of 3000% weapon damage per second, it lasts forever. That's not a typo. The DoT effect from the set causes the enemy to burn until its death as long as you remain in range.
There are still many bugs associated with this set. You can find them here.
Most of the discussion in this thread is old and before RoS was even out of beta.
Original post follows, remember this is very old. I was trying to collect info back when very little was known about this set. It was a closed beta at the time.
Here's what I got so far...
OH looted by Melkor
Chest looted by Arhaeus
-Does the fire explosion eliminate the slain enemy, making it unrevivable, like disintegrate?
-Does the 4 pc. bonus prevent HC death?
Edit: April 15, 2014 a.k.a. tax day.
Unless some kind of revolutionary info comes out, like them scrapping the garbage set bonuses and replacing them with something actually useful, or the 2 remaining questions get answered, this may be the last update for a while.
This thread was made waaay back in PTR/beta days so we no longer need people posting screenshots and whatnot. The items are in the game guide complete with the stock stat rolls, here:
I think Jaetch's mentioned, either in chat or on the forum--can't remember, that the 300% weapon damage explosions stack. That's nice and all but it's still an on-kill mechanic. As with all on-kill mechanics it does nothing vs. strong elites, rift guardians, bosses. Seems kinda silly to stack up 6 set items just to get some pretty explosions while shelving items such as cindercoat, magefist, andy's visage, or even boots with cool utility stats like Illusory or Ice Climbers, hell even Fire Walkers for MOAR FIRES. Those items will directly increase your DPS with fire spells and/or make things run more smoothly in the case of ICs or IBs and they never turn off. Of course, that's my opinion, yours may differ.
