Diablo® III

"Loot Lag"

First off, congrats on a really great expansion for Diablo 3... :)

Back on the topic, I am having an issue where I see the loot come out of a monster, BUT I am not seeing it in the floor... It takes sometime for me to see the name on the floor and loot it... This, I think, only happens to me when I am doing rifts, with or without a party. This is really annoying especially when I play with my friends as I have to wait for my loot to appear, hence, slowing us down.

Also, I have a "green ping" and I am not feeling any lag. Only issue is in the loot.

Is there anybody here having the same issue? What is causing this?

Hello Crystian!

I noticed the same thing occurring when I was playing last night. I would still get an orange beam of light instantly if a legendary dropped, but it would take a few moments for the text box to come up and click on to obtain the loot.

I was only doing Rifts last night, so I do not know if the issue is exclusive to that part of the game or not. I was going to check again this evening to see if the issue was still persisting before trying to troubleshoot or report it. I know that the friends I was playing with at this time was not having this issue.

I have the same issue, ran a pathping: http://pastebin.com/Xpsf8X8A
First time I've had a look at one of these pathpings, but it looks to me that there's a 2% packet loss at my local internet provider?

kolos you are losing packets at your cable modem. That could be caused by the connection between your router and your modem or between your modem and your ISP. Try running a pathping with your computer directly connected to the cable modem, with a brand new ethernet cable if possible. If that solves it you know it is your router. If not then call your ISP and ask them to come service your cable modem.

Your Pathping looks fine. This is also just a connection evaluation to the D3 Americas Server from the specific time that you ran it. I would run try to run one as soon as you start experiencing an issue in game as that may prove to be more accurate results.

Just a thought in case your connection is stable most of the time but periodically experiencing issues.

I have experienced this loot lag as well, granted I have not had a chance to diagnose my own connection and will be doing so this weekend.

What I have noticed with the loot lag (granted, loot lag does not affect me all of the time), is that when a legendary does pop, the orange beam of light (along with the big orange star on the mini map) show up instantly. Since most players are on a lookout for these things, I highly doubt you missed it.

Additionally I have read countless threads who have identified this, and similar issues, being connection related. I have only seen a very, very small handful of them that were not able to be pin pointed to their connection. Most of the people still complaining have not, or will not, post their Pathping. I would be more than happy to take a look at your results if you would like to post them.

Note: Please include who your ISP (usually obvious, but still useful) is and the model of your Modem.

Good point Misfit. Having the pathping queued to run so you can hit enter as soon as lag hits is a good idea. Sometimes it takes several tries to get one that catches an intermittent issue.

Here's what I have, it's all there is in the generated text file... I don't see anything lost, but I am encountering the loot lag. The pathping is generated when I am in the rift and I experienced the issue.

There was a thread in the general forum (lost it now) that had a few people posting this same issue.

I have also had this happen to me, though I have only noticed it in Rifts during multiplayer games (recently did solo bounties and had no loot issues). For me, it was taking anywhere from 3-20 seconds for the loot to appear. No other type of lag was noticeable.

One of the two friends I was playing with in the rift also had the same problem (~800 miles away from me, both eastern time zone). The other friend didn't have the loot lag, but had bad inventory lag whenever opening the inventory.
