Diablo® III

Quality of Life improvement for the Followers.

I am not sure how often this has been talked about, or if there is something in the works for this. But wouldn't it make sense that the followers gear carry over from each character that you are playing? Why do I have to regear all of my followers for each character that I play? I know I can painstakingly transfer the gear each time I play a different character, but wouldn't this be much easier? Just a thought, I would like to hear what you all think about this?

This is especially prevalent for people who have the Asheara's set bonus that calls your followers to your side even when in multiplayer games. For example, if I had all of my follower gear on my barbarian, but my Demon Hunter has the asheara's set... if I switch to play my demon hunter I would have to switch every single followers gear to my demon hunters followers so that the followers could benefit from their gear because of the asheara's set, both in multiplayer and single player games.

Agree.

It feels like each of my characters live in a parallel universe where the same followers exist in each dimension, but as different people with different lives.

I wonder if Tyrael is the same in every dimension?

How do you account for those characters not at level 70? I assume this would only be implemented for max level chars? If I had to guess, this is not being done because they would have to find a way to scale the gear or some other way to lock out gear that is not yet usable by a lower level char on your account. Blizz programmers are too busy "fixing bugs" to program a change like this.

Doesn't sound too terribly difficult to add a variable code to the followers that say if hero = lvl 70, use lvl 70 followers, if >70 use leveling followers... no gear scaling involved...

Actually, that's not a bad idea except I think you meant to put IF lvl < 70 == use leveling char's followers. The leveling char followers would be unique to that specific character while the lvl 70 followers would be shared by all lvl 70 chars.

They would, however, need to figure out what would happen to the lower level follower gear once you hit 70, though. Would it all just vanish as soon as you ticked 70 and swapped over to the lvl 70 character followers? My guess is you would not want this to happen so a simple IF statement would not be enough.

honestly, it could just drop on the ground in front of the followers in town/ in your stash / in your bags/ wherever there is room. no problem

I think this is solid feedback, and I'd be happy to pass it along. A lot has changed with the followers since Reaper of Souls was released, and it might be a good time to take another look at them. We don't have any current plans to alter how followers are equipped, but I'd still like to hear your thoughts about it.

  • Do you currently share follower gear between your characters?
  • How often do you swap follower gear around?
  • Would you use a feature that allowed your max level characters to share follower gear?

Yes.

Often enough to where it is annoying.

I don't exactly transfer gear but they are all equipped with about the same items. 1 set should be good enough for everyone.

Never, cause its too annoying. Only doing it when i plan to play a character for more than a few days.

Wouldn't make sense to have shared gear between followers. Hardcore, different levels, etc.

I do not currently share gear between my followers, mainly because it is such a huge hassel to do so. Back when MF worked, I would sometimes swap MF gear that was on followers. If I had the legendary follower items, i would probably swap those, but swapping the rest is too much work for me.

I would love it if my followers used the same gear for each character, and I would definitely use it.

I like the idea and support it, but equipping followers with the best gear doesn't feel all that crucial. The main benefit to having the followers are the buffs they bring to the table, and those buffs don't require good gear to be effective.

But to reiterate, I like the idea of keeping one set of gear for your followers without the need for swapping.

What Blizz chooses to respond to and what it chooses to ignore makes me laugh. Such a troll company.
