WTF ??? Why is my infinite DOT sometimes 17 mil and sometimes 80 mil ?

Imagine the situation.... about 80 seconds until time expires...solo greater rift lvl 33....you are about to attack the rift boss.... bad karma......and ..... you get 17 mil DOT tick :)

I just spoke to the QA team who retested the Firebird's Finery set bonus, and confirmed it is working correctly. Basically, the 6-piece bonus works like this...

  • It produces less damage than on the PTR as it ramps up
  • It produces the same damage as on the PTR once it is infinite

In other words, the attack starts off a bit slower now before building to PTR strength.

I envy you guys, you can outright LIE and still keep your jobs. Working at Blizzard must be like working at Fox News.

I waited for this buff for 1 month, I logged on to the ptr frequently so I could at a functioning wizard that can kill things. Night before it goes live you sneak in a last moment nerf and break the whole thing trying to hot fix it.

How do you sleep at night?

Best post of the thread!! Need to shake your hand son!

It's like they actually looked at the PTR data at some point and realised Wizards were almost viable and therefore needed to be nerfed back into ground. Meanwhile there are still Rifts that can't be completed (which was a known bug for the entire PTR) and DHs are stronger than ever.

Just another day at BlizzHQ~

Thanks, guys! We tested the issue again, and discovered the 6-piece set bonus is incorrectly basing its damage off of whether or not the first ability cast to trigger it was a critical hit or not. While we unfortunately don’t have an ETA on when this will be fixed, our goal is to address it as soon as possible. Thanks for helping us catch it!

Also, special thanks to Sigmund, Unolydesire, Nightshade, Vdizzle and Atmo for keeping the thread constructive, and Kurono for video proof of the bug! ;)

YES! Tears of joy! Good job everyone

Edit: What about the dot after reaching "untill death" stage, disapearing when the wizzard dies. Can we get that back aswel?

It will be good to see you Wizard guys getting more consistent results out of your set. It shouldn't have gone live like this, but I'm glad it's going to be fixed for you soon.

3 question.
1. "Thanks, guys! We tested the issue again, and discovered the 6-piece set bonus is incorrectly basing its damage off of whether or not the first ability cast to trigger it was a critical hit or not."
Does this mean we can use other firebird bug to reset the tick?

2. Not sure what was not working as intended. What was fixed?

3. It seems PTR version of the code for firebird set was working better than current live set therefore, isn't it easier to replace the current non functioning code with better working version while working on broken one?

If Blizzard's history holds true, they will always release a small patch soon(tm) after a giant patch to catch any missed bugs. So I would expect this to be fixed next Tuesday or whenever the next mini patch is.

Thanks for acknowledging the problem. Ultimately this is the post we were looking for all along. We're not so upset that there is a bug (for the most part), I mean bugs happen, it's just the long periods of silence from the dev team that bother us the most.

Also, thanks for the shout out.
