Ranked Runes change anything?

Does the ranking of the rune matter as far as changing the properties of the runes from one rank to another, or are they just for pure bragging rights?

I would hope it would change the properties. Example: higher ranked runes increase the potency of what their ability holds. Otherwise there wouldn't be a point to go past one rank of runes.

Ranks will adjust the things like +X% numbers and durations of CC and such. The color is what does the transmformation.

For example alabaster + teleport delays the cooldown from kicking in for a short while, so you can teleport multiple times in a row before the cooldown starts. A rank 1 alabaster rune will still delay, but it won't be 2.0 seconds like the rank 7 rune, it will be significantly less than that.

What you see in the calculator are runes that drop in inferno difficulty only (very rare, difficult to obtain). Most of what you'll be using will be below max rank, at least for a while after release, so damage percentages and / or durations will be lower than what is listed in the calculator.

You'll have to make decisions based on availability and your other skills which can stay at lower ranks while you farm & trade for the "right" rank 7 runes for your particular build.

Im glad that it will have some variance. That will make things alot more interesting and still keep you excited to upgrade your skills way past last 30.
