Diablo® III

The countdown to the countdown thread

Everyone knows that once the release date is announced that the "countdown" will officially begin. This is the countdown to the countdown. The time when the release date is announced. Here it is:

27 hours
55 minutes
36 seconds

Edit:
Fact: 3 year development cycle (after announcing a game)
Fact: Release dates from blizzard are announced 6-8 weeks in advance.
Fact: "Sooner than most people think" I.E. Not March.
Fact: January 17th, backup date (the imgur leak)
Fact: Opening Cinematic TOMORROW.
Fact: Beta phases typically last 3-6 months
Fact: Last facebook giveaway is 12-12.

In other words....

Soon™

Nice try Leah but you should not ignore the signs. The prophecy will come to pass.

That is old hat. I began counting down the countdown to the countdown towards the countdown a few months ago.

I'm sorry but it's not official. So for me, this waste a little bit the fun.

A lot of what you listed as "facts" are not facts, just what we currently think based on most recent updates. According to your logic, wouldn't Q4 2011 have been a "fact"?

Dontinquire, learn to be a little skeptical. It feels like you're setting yourself up for a massive letdown. I'm not saying there won't be a release date announcement, but if there isn't, it seems like that could do some mental damage to you.

Okay so the last one is speculation, fine. Everything else I listed is fact. If you're calling into question "Q4 2011" as a fact, I never said it was. Diablo III was "slated" for a q4 release. I put Q1 as fact which it isn't either. So I will strike it from the record, everything else is golden. I will say however I am very optimistic about Q1 2011 as all the other evidence suggests it is the real release segment.

Edit: Mental damage? That's a little over the top... I'm a fairly well adjusted and balanced individual. What's wrong with being excited? My introduction to PC gaming was diablo I that my neighbor brought to my house. This is my childhood being re-lived. This is the universe that helped to nurture my love of storytelling in a fantasy setting. The potential mental damage comes from working 40 hours a week, spending $7,000 out of the $49,000 I made this year on taxes for medicare/medicade/social security and then going to the gd store and paying 10% sales tax on everything I buy. That's causing me mental damage. If diablo let's me escape that for even a day, maybe I can curb the damage somewhat.
