Diablo® III

-= How does this make any sense...? =-

My 2-9 damage ring deals MORE damage than my 3-11 ring.... ?!@#?!?@#

Btw another fact:

This 3-11 damage ring deals less damage than my friend's exact 3-11 damage ring with magic find.

How would you explain that?

Damage calculations are based on averages between the minimum and maximum values.

The difference in damage values on your equipped ring is 7 while the difference in the one in your inventory is 8. The larger range in possible damage is probably what is making it show a lower number. I am not going to trouble myself with the math right now but I am sure someone else has already done so.

Or it could be a bug.

Your 2-9 ring has +11% critical damage. The 3-11 ring doesn't have that.

Can you read? 11% chd has nothing to do with dps lol... do you even play in the beta?

2-9 DMG:

9+2 = 11 / 2 = 5.5
3 + 11 = 14 / 2 = 7

7 - 5.5 = 1.5

(1.5 dmg * [crit chance] * 1.5 for 50% crit dmg) + 1.5 original damage difference = 1.7

This formula works out with an 8% crit chance. Do you have an 8% crit chance?

You do realize that none of that makes sense because you don't add crit damage into a DPS equation...

Wow you're speaking out of your !@#.

I'm pretty sure it's a bug. If D3 is going to have hidden stats... that's just dumb lol. No one would ever know if it's a bug or a hidden stats. Why not make everything visible...

If you hover over the DPS display on the paper doll, it says that it does include CHBD.

If it didn't, then that would be a bug, as critical hits are included in DPS calculations (that's why precision increases DPS).
