If the logic behind the RMAH is that people are going to use real money for in game content, with our without blizzard's consent, then it should only follow that people will use real money for items and gold in HC through 3rd party websites.
The RMAH is going to be useless in softcore after about a year. Items never break in softcore so there will be more and more and more of them floating in the market. Eventually the best items in the game will be dirt cheap. Give us the RMAH in HC for the sustainability of the market.
I cannot understand this logic of "people will get pissed if they die right after they bought a $20 item". TOO BAD! People spend money on things IRL all the time that break or get lost due to mistakes or neglect. I think someone would be more pissed off about losing the 15 hours (should be worth a whole lot more than $20 of your time) they spent making a level 60 character that just died. With this logic you might as well just take HC out of the game entirely.
While you are right it seems inconsistent you are neglecting something, and that is likely the 'legal' ramifications of lagging and dying, and blizzard having to go through and determine whether you lagged or not to refund you your character.
What a disaster this would be, yeah OP, not gonna happen.
