Many (most) games being developed have some sort of open beta / trial / demo version
You could paraphrase the open beta with
"THE DIABLO 3 OPEN BETA HAS STARTED - PLEASE BE AWARE - DUE TO VOLUME LIMITATIONS ON THE TEST SERVERS YOU MAY GET AN ERROR (SERVER FULL) WHEN YOU TRY TO LOGIN - DO NOT CONTACT BLIZZARD OR POST - SIMPLY TRY AGAIN AT A LATER TIME"
this way Blizzard can be prepared for launch volumes and allows everyone a fair chance to test the game out before it goes live
come on Blizz - open up the gates and let us all test out this game :-)
There is NO BETTER way to be prepared for launch stress than to duplicate that stress.. before launch!
Seems like a good plan, but I think they still want to build hype for the game. Giving everyone access might turn some people off because it is just a beta and they have stated the full build is better than the beta.
I rather them keep it invite only and just release the full version to the public sooner than later.
Do you not understand the rhetorical nature of this question? The answer goes without saying...
Blizzard is fully aware (more so than you are) of the possible benefits that an open Beta test would bring.
They've chosen to not have one...therefore logic would require that Blizzard simply doesn't need or want one to test Diablo 3...
I like this response.
It's almost like people think they're better developers, or have better understanding of marketing and business than a multi-billion dollar corporation with teams of professionals. They know what they're doing better than anyone here that wants to claim otherwise.
