So my female Demon Hunter will be called "MrSuplex" in game, as will my Barbarian, and every other character I make. Wonderful. /sarcasm

Everyone should post in the sticky thread at the top of this forum if you want to add to the weight of people upset about this. Hopefully it will be changed, because its completely stupid currently.

PS: Jay Wilson talks in WoW lingo, not a good sign

The ironic part is that WoW handles character names just fine.
there's nothing wrong with having battetags, but like you said the hero names being random numbers like #43124 won't hurt the game experience and that just feels strange. There's no way that someone's battletag is going to fit all the diverse characters and builds.

I'd say it's more of an immersion than a RP thing.

True irony of this statement is that Diablo 2 was the predecessor to Wow (it made up roughly 90% of the game-play/itemization).

Not to mention D2 is a dead game full of bots and misery.

90%!

I love people who pull numbers from their hindside

BattleTag is still intended to be your big overarching account-wide identifier that will follow you from Blizzard game to Blizzard game, but individual character identity is still obviously very important.

what was that about character identity being 'very important'?

It was just tap dancing.
