Diablo® III

Item sets (greens)

Just a thought on the set bonuses... While I love the idea of having a matching set for my characters, on occasion, there may be a particular legendary that really suits my play style or needs better than the green. Since the green would give stacking bonuses based on how many of items of the set I had, this would passively make choosing a legendary over a green typically a poor choice. I think a good solution for this would be to:

A: Change item set bonuses to cap at one less than the total set items. In other words, you would get full set bonuses from 'Immortal King' after getting any 5 set items out of the 6. That way, if I preferred having a 2h sword over a mace, it wouldn't cost me what would likely be the best set bonus.

B: Conversely, it would also be alright if the last set bonus for completing the set was one of the less desirable bonuses the set offered. While still a bonus, it would make having the full, complete set more about bragging rights and aesthetics than that last, epic bonus. Those of us choosing to opt out of one or perhaps 2 set items wouldn't be as severely penalized.

umm -- part of the bonus on the set is giving up wearing that legendary item...

Lol... if its called a set, thats mean u need the SET to have the benefits that goes with it... If there is some Part bonus set (Ex: 2/6...4/6 ) its just to add to the customization like Mr.Bottle said and it give you some plus while collecting it.

Wearing a full set is supposed to be a compromise. I doubt there will be any 13 item sets. Also I am sure there will be partial set bonuses if you don't want to wear the whole thing. Getting all of the bonuses for not completing the set bad design and just flat wrong. Why make the hardest piece of the set to find completely meaningless?

Pretty sure they already do this.

I think the hard decision of forcing the player to either choose the maximum set bonus OR have the superior stats from the legendary is exactly their intended goal...

They don't want to have the best of both worlds.
