Diablo® III

does it not bother anyone

I really don't care about it. I'm not in the game for the competition (and, thanks to the way PvP will work, I will pretend it does not exist anyway, since I don't do PvP in games with a gear grind; so it won't affect me there).

On the other hand, if I was playing for the competition, fighting for a high place in the ladder or really into it's PvP, the real money AH would make me give the game a wide berth. Although even without the real money AH, the amount of randomization in loot would already make me wary of competing in game anyway; in my point of view, it makes good gear more a matter of luck than skill.

Not at all , its part of the game.
Grow up and deal with it. EA just did something similar in BF3. Does that negate all the effort I put into unlocking everything? No. Does it mean whoever uses those "shortcuts" is pathetic? Absolutely.

I'm sure it bothers poor people.

I'm sure it doesn't bother people who would just rather work for the items themself.

Welcome to the real world.

Meh, i can afford to buy whatever items, and it slightly bothers me. I'm likely not going to buy them because i like the thrill of item hunting. I just wish they had an additional item category like similar to TF2. TF2 doesn't do it exactly like this, but it'd be nice if in Diablo 3 they had something like:
"Vintage item" = found via drop
Anything non-vintage = bought from the store.

All items are found via drop. Unless Blizzard starts to post spawned ones on the RMAH.
Labeling items bought from either auction house would be a supremely bad idea

As long as they enact a system where it says whether you bought/crafted/looted it on the item, perfectly fine with me. Let them buy it, but i want to know if they did.

You basically want to paint a bulls-eye on the back of anyone who buys gear from an AH for trolls, I don't think the idea of encouraging people to verbally abuse each other is gonna catch on with the Dev team.

While you are it it why not tag who sold it so the trolls can go after each other too?

Nope not at all this isnt WoW and its not really a mmo its a diablo game yep true story and the gear they are buying is legitly farmed up by other characters its not a microtransaction and blizzard wont be putting stuff in the store to buy so all good its gonna be all player driven.

And im sure it will say who bought what problably be similar to WoW auction house in that regaurd problably by character name though and hopefully not the battletag name.
I could care less. If people want to spend money to have more fun, that's their choice. If people want to grind out gear the hard way, that's their choice. Doesn't affect me one bit.

Trading is a big part of diablo (IMO) you could find 100 rare items before you get one that is useful for your character because of how the stats are randomized. If there is trading in a game then people will trade items for real currency either it's done legit or through a 3rd party site. Blizzard stated they added the RMAH to prevent people from having a bad experience with the game by getting scamed by these 3rd party sites selling diablo items. As far as it being "unfair" that someone has better gear because they bought it is a mute point that would never make Blizzard take trading out of the game. If there is a way to prevent people from buying items with real currency without compromising in game trading then great but even then its kinda late for Blizzard to change it when they most likely already have the RMAH system finished or close to finished. It didn't ruin D2 it won't ruin D3.

Using money to buy success in a video game is like using money to buy success in your local soccer league, or any other sport or tournament or game. This would be GREATLY frowned upon. In fact you would get kicked out and maybe be charged, etc. What makes it so acceptable and interesting to see it being done in a video game?

Actually its more like spending money to buy new boots for playing in your local soccer league. When random boots can be found in barrels. Problem ?

Um, exactly boots come from barrels, which is playing the game; soccer trophies (an equivalent of getting item drops in Diablo) comes from PLAYING THE GAME.

I have no problem with it actually, just playing with some ideas on the subject, and how I view it.

You can't buy your win in your local sports league, but you can basically buy your win in Diablo III. Or do you want to debate whether or not gear = win? It's been done before, and in these games, we know gear = win.

As others have said, buying items doesn't have an impact like WoW. In Diablo, you can pretty much seclude yourself to your game. Unless you're into hardcore PvP then what other players have, or have achieved has very little bearing on your character and your overall experience.
It didn't bother me in diablo 2, so I'm not really bothered by it right now

this is a terrible example. buying of items between d2 and that of d3 are way different.

I doesn't bother me because I intend to sell the best gear possible to those fools willing enough to buy it.

no one could say it any better
Agreed.

How so? Just because people were more likely to be scammed in D2?
I'm not going to read through this entire thread but I will state my point on this subject.

There are 2 Auction houses, Gold and Real Money. What is the difference between either?
Absolutely none whatsoever, if a player buys an item from either they still didn't acquire it themselves.
So this entire argument is mute.

End of the day some people have jobs and busy days irl, they play the game and buy items with real cash.
Some people are just couch potatoes and play a game day in day out and acquire gold to do the exact same thing with said gold instead of real cash.

I can guarentee those who are whining about players buying with there hard earned cash are the ones who buy with ingame gold.
