1. Make a build
i am duh masta! http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#abWhfi!ZbW!Ycaccc
But in seriousness I understand that a build without pets is just as viable. It's just you pick a class because you like the way it plays. Pets are the primary reason I chose this class so without them I feel as though I'd be better off with a wizard.
I think a balanced character without pets would work very well.
It will look like a character will not succeed without some balance. Defensive abilities with crowd control will be essential in higher levels.
Build with combos in mind. Grasp of the Dead + Acid Cloud looks like it has a lot of potential.
Soul Harvest will give +int which directly translate into +damage and +resists. +150 int will give +150% damage and +15% resists which is a huge buff.
Spirit Walk will be useful for escaping while you are getting pounded and need to get away for a second to regroup. Runes will give +healing or +mana
Anyone who just is thinking of using 6 +damaging skills is unrealistic.
2 +damage skills is enough. then build defense, escape and crowd control abilities around your 2 damage skills.
This is my spirit movement build and the first thing I'm going to try.
I don't really care that much about pets. That being said, Firebomb can quickly become Widowmakers if I need a good, cheap, Mana return. Or anything, really. That one will be my joker card.
So I was thinking why not have a petless build with the benefits of pets.
1.You get a spammable DoT that you do not have to aim in Leaping spiders. just run and spam, they find their own targets.
2. You have Locust swarm DoT that jumps around.
3. Soul Harvest, well speaks for itself.
4. Grasp of the Dead, always good to have CC. I personally think its going to be more important in later difficulties.
5. Mass Confusion another great CC, with the added benefit of giving zombie dogs.
6. Wall of Zombies, your heavy hitter for bosses.
Passives 1. Fetish Sycophants allows you to get fetish pets since Ill be running around Spamming the hell out of Spiders and Locust Swarm.
2. Pierce the Veil gives you 20% more damage. This build does not require alot of mana so not to worried about the 30% increase in mana.
3. Jungle Fortitude well any damage reduction is nice.
Of course this is all theory but this build allows pets without having to use up a spot for summoning. Well what do you think??
