I am currently using a hp pavillion dv6 notebook laptop.. 2.2ghz and a decent nvidia geforce graphics card..
What I'm asking is, I want to buy a new desktop computer for this game and other future games and im wondering what would be a good computer to buy for roughly $1000 bucks?? Anyone got any suggestions on where to look/buy?? I currently live in canada.. so ya.. Thanks!
$1000 will buy you a nice set up.
I spent about $500 on mine, and it runs anything that I throw at it on max settings.
If you look up a little on building computers (if you don't already know how), you can make a really good computer for pretty cheap. I got almost all of my parts on sale from Tigerdirect.com.
They have a lot of good deals.
Ok, ya cuz I was looking at futureshop and bestbuy and there computers are just garbage for what they're asking. So I looked a little more into it and checked out cyberpower.com
I came to the conclusion that there are some decent computers there but at the same time I dont know too much about computers.. I know an i7 and a nvidia geforce is what I want.. but then i was looking at amd graphics cards and they look good as well..
Honestly, I dont want to custom build my own computer because i dont know how to put it together lol.. so what do you think i should do?
I have the money to spend so its not big deal.. but I want to make sure i have a really good desktop for around $1000 and it will last many many years.
Here's an excellent guide for buying a gaming rig:
"many many years" is a big statement... you should instead invest around 700$ into a good PC and expect it to last about 2-3 years... then buy a new one at that price.
mine is solid, about 1k- it has an 8core bulldozer 4.0ghz (turbo) cpu. though if more than 2 cores running, its down to about 3.2ghz. with an *amd*ati 6950 vid card and 16g memory.
got it for running cad and animations but also games. (good all way round for multi-purposes)

I made a post on a build for $800. Go to the end of it and look at my final parts list.

You must've not thrown much at it, go tell me how it handles Witcher 2, Metro 2033 and any other high demanding game on max settings 1920X1080.
Built it myself for BF3:
i5-2500k OC'd to 4.0ghz (Corsair H60 Cooled)
2x4gb 2133 DDR3 G.Skill Memory
eVGA GTX 570 Classified OC'd
ASRock Extreme4 Gen3
1,500gb of hd space. (I don't even use 100gb LOL)
Asus 23.6" 1080p Monitor
HT Omega eClaro Sound Card
Logitech Z-5500 5.1 & Sennheiser 598 Headphones(A-MAZ-ING)
Logitech G110 Keyboard (my g15 just died on me :()
Logitech MX518 Mouse.
Corsair 850w TX Power Supply
Corsair 600t White edition case (Awesome!)
That pretty much sums it all up. Cost somewhere around $1100 ~september last year (minus sound equipment, monitor KB&M)
