Diablo® III

Something to think about in inferno

The monsters are going to have insane life. If I do skills and runes and if the strength bonus adds the bonus before the skill...very hypothetically you might be adding 300% damage to your skills. A 600 damage weapon with a 6000% eq hitting for all 8 seconds will do 3.6 million damage. I really do not think 1 eq will kill Inferno Diablo.

I think this could mean a boss in inferno could have health in the tens of millions. Maybe hundreds of millions in 4 player.

That sounds like a lot of fun!

It's not pointless, its perspective to know how buff you will need to be to beat inferno. And thinking of the challenge of defeating an enemy that may have 1000x the health of your character.

It is required in the Diablo series, since it is essentially four games in one. But, in some RPG's that have ridiculous number scaling, I find it a bit silly.

The Final Fantasy games are a good example. You start out the game doing like 6 damage to a level 1 enemy. By the end of the game, you are unleashing combos doing millions of damage.

Granted, Zell's limit break was overpowered.

I've always favored the more realistic RPG's like Baldur's Gate. Sure, you can have badass armor and fight toe to toe with a dragon, but if you get surrounded and outnumbered by bandits, you can still die.

There's this game called Dark Souls you might be interested in...

After looking through those an various vids/posts about Inferno im pretty convinced that only Act 3 and 4 will be insane requiring several defensive measures while act 1 and 2 will be topable with only 'good' viable builds. Bliz themselves have stated that they dulled down act 1 of inferno somewhat (compared to act 2+) to make transitions for the casual-gamer more reasonable and give them something to work towards (act2+) and from the many scans ive seen on monsters from act 1 and 2 their stats are not all that exponential compared to ones in act3+. This is without affixes, mob combos and other unseen circumstances of course. With that said i still stand were i did months ago and believe that bliz is hyp'n it up a lil more than what hardcore gamers expect. Yeah i could be wrong, but having to completly change your build for a certain method to manage Inferno...i think not. A solid build with skill, up-to-date gear, and experence (since this will likely be most everyones 4th playthrough) will be all we need least till act3+. Sure we will die due to how mobs will be grouped and their combination of skills/affixes but i dont see this happening over an over with the right pre-cautions and strategy. Act 4 and 5 look pretty nasty tho!
