Diablo® III

I reject your in-game music...

I guess this wouldn't be the thread to mention that I (re) bought and played D2 mostly because of the music. Act I and II music in D2 ranks among the best in any game I've ever played.

Blizz, you couldn't woo Matt Uelmen back? I don't wanna play Torchlight just to hear the score.

That said, I'll have the in-game music cranked for many playthroughs. After that, I'll defer to my normal no-music-while-gaming option: listening to subversive conspiracy theory radio programs.

This isn't just a "let the bodies hit the floor" game.

Pft, maybe not the way you play it! ;)

I do plan to play with the in-game music. I always rather liked the atmosphere of the Diablo series soundtracks.

I listened to the best of Led Zeppelin while playing D2 and it always seemed the lyrics of the songs matched up with what was going on in the game; plus it was easy to jam to so Ill be listening to that Lol

I never stopped listening to D2's music. Ever.

I will be listening to the only three "D"s that matter for D3:

Devin Townsend: Deconstruction for the ultimate brain hemorrhage followed by Terria for that chaotic ambiance that only the mad scientist of metal can make

Dreamtheater: Train of Thought or Systematic Chaos anyone?

Dragonlord: Come on Eric Peterson, over 10 years and only ~80min of the best Symphonic-American-black-thrash-metal ever made!

The best part about the Diablo music is that it's pretty sparse. It makes for a much more dynamic play experience, also giving the music more impact when it builds and crescendos.

Don't get me wrong. I like several bands that play some pretty hard stuff. But even the most diverse and dynamic of those bands won't be substituted in place of the full Diablo sound experience on my first play through. :)

This isn't just a "let the bodies hit the floor" game.

I'll probably listen to in-game at first, then after the first few hundred hours swap over to my usual...

I'll just post my last.fm, though, because it should give an accurate representation:

Seems like I'll be listening to Manowar, Blue Oyster Cult, Tupac, Iron Maiden, Grave Digger, Blind Guardian, Queen, and Ghost.

I walk 2.5 miles to work and listening to same music over and over makes it a bit boring sometimes. So the other day I decided to listen to some Diablo music. It's very tough to keep myself from slaying some random noobs walking by I tell ya. :P
