WD Summon Build - Enough AoE

I didn't play in the Beta. I love the idea of having pets, but am unclear of whether I will have the AoE damage to take out large packs. I am hoping that Mass Confusion and Grasp of the Dead will be enough to pick off members of the pack while having my dogs consistently reviving without resummons. What changes would you suggest?

I think you should try to squeeze in Firebomb, Locust Swarm or Acid Rain.
I'm still not sure how usefull sacrifice is in solo play. You do have a few runes to summon more dogs, but it is still not as reliable as any of the three mentioned above.

Hard to say. I'm thinking of trying something like this myself.

TBH, Sacrifice is an awesome ability with the highest damage potential in the game, but you need to "sacrifice" most of your build to support it. Also, relying on your pets as tanks, and using them as sacrifices (which all 3 blow up at the same time, btw) are kind of on the opposite end of the spectrum.

If you're worried about AoE (a good concern for solo play) you may want to sub out Sacrifice in exchange for Acid Cloud, Zombie Charger, Fire Bats, or Locust Swarm (warning, melee ranged attack, but very powerful) which may work a little better in your build than some others because of your use of both Gargantuan and Zombie Dogs. If you remove Sacrifice, I would suggest changing the rune on Mass Confusion as well, maybe to [Unstable Realm] for the reduced CD.

Thank you all for your suggestions and thoughts. After consideration your points about Sacrifice were valid and I have made changes to my build accordingly. I also switched out the poison dart for toads and. My next question would be as to the Passive Skills. I was thinking Zombie Handler,Jungle Fortitude, and Fierce Loyalty. However, after the additional reading I have rethought and am now considering Bad Medicine, Jungle Fortitude, and Grave Injustice. Any thoughts on my revamp?

Mookle I have read that guide from top to bottom and it has by far been the best resource I have seen yet.

Thanks in advance,

I'd personally take Poison Dart or Firebomb over Plague of Toads. Then again from what I've seen of it the only Toad skills that I like the look of so far are Hugeness, and Rain.

Grave Injustice has a TINY radius. 8 yards is striking distance for a melee mob basically. However, if you get some good +Gold Pickup Radius items (highest bonus is +6 on one item) it can be extremely useful.

If you intend to play only solo, I might recommend Zombie Handler instead of Bad Medicine, as the 20% bonus works roughly the same (for your pets at least, although not you), and gives you an additional Dog to boot. If you intend to play ANY cooperative, Bad Medicine is one of the best passives you or your group could ask for. You could switch out every time you change between solo and coop, but if you had to pick one, Bad Medicine is more useful in more situations. (Edit: Notably, if your dogs and Gargles the Gargantuan go down, and you're spamming Acid Cloud until the CD is up for them)

If you choose Fierce Loyalty, you'll want to stack Life Regen and Thorns items to get use out of it. Personally, I think Grave Injustice would be better, and stack +GPR (Gold Pickup Radius), that way it is only one stat to stack with an amazing benefit when it procs. Note that Grave Injustice is USELESS in a fight against a strong SOLO Boss with no adds.

Edit: Also just a warning, Toads is a nearly melee range skill, and Firebomb, Darts, or Spiders may be more useful in this build.

I believe as of now this is going to be the build I plan on going with. Thanks for all the input along the way.
