This is what im planning to go with for now as an AOE WD:
It's a build for level 30. Later it'll probs change. Let me know what u think.
I also have some dilemas regarding the build whether to use:
Primary: Spiders or firebomb
Secondary: GotD or bats or swarm
Defensive: I'm not considering to use dogs, probs spirit walk or horrify.
Terror: most likely Soul Harvest
Decay: acid cloud or wall of zombies
Voodoo: Gargantuan for tanking purposes.
Thanks for ur help!
From my limited experience (currently level 17), I would say it looks good. I pared that down to level 20 for people still in Act 1.
I will def try it. As of right now my build looks something like this:
it works quite well.
That was my build when I finished normal. I played with my Monk friend so I didn't need lots of CC.
My primary attack was Firebomb with Roll the Bones rune. I don't like Flash fire because of the damage goes down. But it's good until you get the Roll the Bones
Secondary was Grasp of the Undead, main purpose to prevent monsters from clustering around.
I used Hex with Hedge Magic in my 1st skill. The heal is nice, but I never got a real life saving hex from the Fetish. Need to figure out what is the main priority in Hex.
My second skill was Acid Cloud with Acid Rain. Gives a nice 24 yard damage. Costs pretty much but it's worth it. 100% weapon damage plus 75% over 3 sec (plus Grasp of the Dead) was a devastating combo. This allowed my friend to charge anywhere he wanted because my passive gives -20% damage to enemies.
Spirit walk was my get out of fail free card. This is the best skill that you can have! It has low CD and low mana cost for such an amazing skill!
And the 4th skill was Gargantuan with Restless Giant rune. I'm doing a good AoE damage so I don't need that small cleave from Humongoid. This guy can take a hell a lot of beating, When he get's cornered / elite / boss monster appears, he goes Hulk mode and smashes everything.
For Passives I have Jungle fortitude, for my and Gargantuan's survival, Bad Medicine to reduce damage done by the monsters. The Last one is Spirit Vessel, which reduces Spirit Walk's CD to 13 seconds and gives you an another get out of fail free card.
The build gives you a nice amount of damage for larger groups. But your damage will be horrible against small packs / lone survivors. The reason why I didn't took Haunt / Locust swarm was that they wouldn't have enough time to spread and be efficent. If you trust yourself and think that you can handle without one of the passives I mentioned, you can go for Gruesome Feast which gives you 10% of max mana when you get a health orb.
