I had a buddy in the army who did that before he joined. I think it was one of the craziest choices in life. He left a $150k/year job to join the army and make maybe 30k/year and get shot at. We all have our reasons for joining the military, most being slightly patriotic, but if I had a job making $150k/year and a family(I have a wife and 2 kids), I definately wouldn't be in the Army.
Im medically retired Air Force. Lucky to have found this job. Though if I could, I'd rejoin the military. Best years of my life.
