Just finished diablo on hell. The party? 3 Barbarians.
This is a tanking spec, I was the only one in the party to use a sword and shield tanking spec. Troughout hell you should be looking for vitality, resists, and health per sec. The last one is crucial, and you'll get a ton from the inspiring presence passive.
By the end of hell I had 43000 life, 65% damage reduction from armor, another 27-30% damage reduction from resistances, and regenerate over 1000 life per sec. I only died when I was cc'd for absurdly long, or when diablo shadow cloned my high dps friends who @*@*d the !@#$ out of me.
Ground stomp with the clump up is amazing, works on everything except belial, and interrupts casting. We ran through most of hell with 3 barbs and a wizard, and roflstomped it by chaining this skill, followed by me using ignore pain with mob rule and then repeating. If a dps got low, they used ignore pain with ignorance is bliss and wrath.
It will take FOREVER to kill anything with this build, but your party will love you and be able to play much more aggresively as a result.
But, in order to play a barb in those difficulties at all you NEED to be able to dodge random properties. If it has frozen and arcane, note how long it's been since it's last freeze and make sure you have enough time to dodge lasers before then. Desecrate means you need to move every 5-10 seconds a bit. Play intelligently and save health orbs for when you need them (Pound of flesh is %^-*!@# amazing with a big health pool). If you can't avoid the bad most of the time, you'll never have a chance.
