Diablo® III

Which graphic card to get?

A friend of mine is looking to buy a new graphic card which can run D3 and have decent performance. His current graphic card is incompatible to play and he already spent $160 on a card which doesn't fit in his cpu.

Are there any recommendations for a specific graphic card which meets both these requirements, more importantly being compatible to play :P.

He has an Acer Aspire x1800, 3gb of ram dual core @ 2.60hZ. If you guys need any other information in order to see which graphic cards are compatible with his computer and diablo 3 please let me know.

P.S, something in the same price range of 100-$160 would be great since he can exchange it.

Thanks in advance,

Needs a new power supply before he can get a new graphics card

Also, if it's a slim case, your options are limited to cards like Radeon 6570 (low profile ready), and no power supply upgrade is possible (well, it is, but not that better)

Does it matter which voltage power supply he needs, is there a preferred one for gaming, especially diablo 3 oriented? Sorry what do you mean by slim case? Which graphic card would you recommend from the Radeon series which will be compatible?

Thanks

I mean, is his computer case a fat mid-tower, or those slim variants? This has a noticeable impact in what he can get.

Why was the card he bought 'incompatible'?

Newer graphics cards require more power to run, hence needing a new power supply. That particular PC is a slim case, so you would be looking for a card that says something light "slim ready" or the like. The power supply on that PC is only 220W, which would not support most newer cards, so an upgrade would almost definitely be needed.

The graphic card didn't fit in his computer lol. So basically he'll need a new power supply and a slim/ready version of a graphic card? Which voltages for a power supply are recommended to use new graphic cards as you are suggesting?

No, don't bother with a new power supply. He'll just have to be happy with a Radeon HD 6570 (low-profile ready version).

Reason being, slim case power supplies are usually propriety, and you can't find good ones for them.

Just to confirm as well, he just needs to buy the Radeon HD 6570 and no power supply? I can't seem to find anything that says low profile ready version or slim ready.

Is that the same as a graphic card which requires one slot as opposed to a dual or triple slot?

Thanks for your help!

Example:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121441

It shows that the card has full-length bracket, but you will see that it comes with a low-profile bracket included with the box.
