I made up the statistic, but it's my best guess.
But I'll bet that most players don't know about elective mode, and the fact that you can assign any spell to any slot rather than just pick from the limited subset of spells for each slot. It's a small checkbox that is hidden away in your gameplay settings menu that essentially lets you "jailbreak" your character spec. In early beta you could assign any spell to any slot, but then they switched over to the current system where by default they make you pick a school for each slot. Some Blizzard employee who was overzealous with the Libertarian Paternalism philosophy probably recommended it. |

Give us a pic where this hidden box is!

My friend just asked me and he's level 41 what build to go. I told him and he said it was impossible because he couldn't select it. Then I told him about elective mode and he flipped.
Silly in theory, silly in practice Blizzard. |

Ive told everyone i play with about it, Its so awesome using these skills in this order.... Leap, Ground stomp Threat shout Whirlwind. Its almost instadeath for any horde for me. I leap in generate 15 ground stomp 15 more shout for 15 extra rage and Bam 6 seconds of whirlwind death before i go apenuts and frenzy the rest of the mob.

Yup, elective mode should be on default, hopefully they'll patch it.

Libertarian paternalism might work for school lunch choices for kids, like putting the salad within reach, but some of the best wizard spec choices for coop require that you not use the template that was set forth. For example, I'll bet a lot of coop dps wizards would love getting a double dps boost with familiar and arcane weapon. |

I could say more than 80%...
If I was not a forum rat, I wouldn't know at all |

Also, some people just can't figure out how to do it once they have turned on Elective Mode.
Like some guy on a mumble server I was on was telling his friend about the beta, and how you can't put skills from different schools in different slots. So I corrected him and told him about Elective Mode, but he insisted that he already enabled it and it didn't fix the issue. |

Totally agree. I try to tell everyone who plays D3 to turn it on right away. It should be default really. Although I find myself assigning LMB and LMR to the primary and secondary skills regardless, the ability to switch around the 1-4 skills is invaluable.

Elective mode and advanced tool tips are a MUST.
Damage numbers and health bars are also very useful. I have no idea why they are off by default. |

me too, i find my hand going to the wsad position more often than not, i re-key-binded the same way

And this is why you look through all of the options in the settings before you start playing your brand new game...
Then again, I was one of those kids who actually read the instructions of a new game when all of your friends just start complaining about not knowing how to play. |
