Error 3007 *UPDATE*

So, I've been trying to troubleshoot and isolate this 3007 error...like many of you, I have tried everything that Blizzard has suggested..I've tried directly connecting to my Modem and bypassing my router completely..I've set my computer in the DMZ, I've made sure that all ports are open..nothing.

I have a Mid-2010 Series Macbook Pro, running 10.6.8. My ISP is WildBlue and I have a 12Mbps Download speed, 3Mbps upload speed.

Everytime I try to login, I get to the point where the game is 'Authenticating Credentials' and then the game hangs and I get an error 3007.

Here's what I've found:

The issues seem to have started after Blizzard's server updates on Friday. I can login to the Asia Server without a problem (little bit of lag, but not bad). So the issue is NOT WITH US and likely not with our internet connections. This seems to have happened after a recent server update by Blizzard.

Same for me, except I cannot login to any server, Americas, Europe, or Asia...

If it were completely at Blizzard's end *no one* would be able to connect to it.

From the testing I've been doing I have yet to be able to reproduce this. I can login and play just fine. I've tried blocking a few servers D3 opens in my hosts file yet I can't seem to produce a 3007 error myself. I have yet to try blocking the game server it connects to to see if that's the issue.

Different server being used in a different location of the world so the routing may be different.

I'm in the process of formulating a few diagnostic steps. For now let's start with a traceroute to us.actual.battle.net

You can run this in terminal with the command string

traceroute us.actual.battle.net

Run it until it times out at the end and post the results.

Also try :

telnet us.actual.battle.net 1119

Then if it does Connect press C to disconnect. Or Control - ] then quit.

Post the text you get from connecting.

This is getting real F$$$$$$$$ annoying. I spent $60 on this game and I can't play. Error 3007, I don't have this problem with play station, or x box, or wii only with Mac and Diablo 3. Brand new game just came out and can't complete a full mission without getting kicked off. Your customers are really upset. This is a shame. Fix it no excuses, just fix it

Not sure I follow that line of logic in this case. If you read all the threads, most of us were playing just fine Wed through Friday night (I don't count Tuesday since pretty much nobody could get logged on) and then suddenly Saturday morning a huge group of people couldn't get logged in.

Blizzard changed *something* between Friday night and Saturday morning that completely hosed certain Mac users ability to log on.

It might be that certain ISPs or Router and Modem configurations are causing us not to be able to log in, but anything beyond triggering or opening ports (which even that I don't think a game developer should require under normal, every day user circumstances) really IS on the fault of the game developer.

My biggest beef right now is that it has been over 24 hours without a single official acknowledgment of the issue. I doubt I could get a refund at this point, nor do I want one, I simply want to play the game, but I'm getting to the point where I might start trying to get one.

I have.

None of them had anything I could use. No traceroutes done. But to be fair they might not of known the address to do the traceroute.No info on their network , ISP or networking hardware.

My logic was that if it were completely on Blizzard's end as in Blizzard was the sole cause and fix of this then I would not be able to connect either. It's possible it could be a combination of things of which issues in Blizzard's network are only part of the problem.

I have find posts of Windows users having issues staying connected. This is different. This is an inability to log in.

That doesn't make sense to me. I did a little bit of testing last night to see which connections D3 makes when playing.

As far as I can see it's using the exact same ports Wow is. If you can connect and play to wow then the ports are open I thought. Ports 80 (web) , 1119 and 3724.

You shouldn't need to open ports in the router for D3 if they are already open for World of Warcraft. Maybe the port forwarding in the router needs to be re-done for D3 ?

I've been researching a few possibilities tonight at work but unfortunately it was all for people lagging out in game and then getting a error 3007. I have a few suggestions of what you could try but need to test them out first.

Yes, this is correct.

I have tried rebooting my system, my router. Trying from a wireless connection and a wired. My ISP Century Link Las Vegas uses a DSL modem/router combo, so I can't test a direct connect to the modem vs the router since they are a single unit.

I've tried other random things too like deleting my shared user battle net folder and letting it rebuild. I've cleared DNS cache, which I'd never done on a mac before, but I was willing to try anything. For my limited computer and networking skills I've tried literally everything. If you (or anyone else) has some ideas I'd love to try them out!

I can block us.actual.battle.net via my hosts file and get a 3003 at log in.

Maybe it's timing out logging in or something ?

Maybe it has something to do with a survey pref file ?

Will update once I have more information.

BTW Anyone tried delete your cache folders ?

Ones in the D3 folder as well as the one at Mac HD -> Users -> Shared -> Blizzard

Yes, tried and didn't make a difference for me.

I also just remembered I had a free WoW account in addition to my paid (which are currently canceled). So I tried logging into my free play account and was able to log in with no issue.

If I try anything else I'll post results.

it's not so much that it results in a 3007, it's that 3007 occurs then the client crashes. again did not start happening until yesterday morning.

Out of curiosity, has anyone who can't log in tried logging in with a friend or family member's credentials from your system?

and would this mean anything to anyone?

Similar problem; I've been able to play fine up until this past weekend.

Random bits that may help:
1. Game hangs on the 'Connecting to Battle.net' stage; briefly shows the 3007 and crashes. Both the Blizzard Error Reporter and Diablo III lock up after that and have to be closed manually. Doesn't get to the authentication stage.
- I play on the Americas servers (even though I'm currently traveling in the UK right now) and can get both the tracert and the telnet to connect to the Americas servers
2. Downloaded the game digitally from Blizzard
3. Have tried DMZ, Port Triggers/Forwards (80, 1119, and 6881-6999), Disabling SPI on the firewall, and enabling/disabling UPnP to no effect; along with multiple reboots both for the computer and the modem
4. Mac OSX 10.6.8; Macbook Pro (2.3GHz, 4GB)
5. Have deleted the Users/Shared/Battle folder and redownloaded it through the Launcher (to no effect)
6. Have re-enabled read/write permission for the Diablo III folder (to no effect)

Gonna have to give up now, spent about 5 hours trying to get this to work; I'm open to other suggestions, otherwise will just have to wait

EDIT: In a fit of rage, I took off all of the port forwarding, DMZ, etc. and tried one last time (after trying to connect to the Asia servers) and it let me in. Been playing for ~20 minutes so far without issue. *shrug*

i made a few researches as well, i found out that using your cellphone hotspot connection lets you connect, i also used a proxy software to connect through a server in canada and that let me play without any hiccups.... with the same connection i've always had, playing wow, playing sc2 and a few other games i've always played well, and also i played without any trouble from Wednesday till friday night, i don't actually know certainly what caused all this madness, but i can assure you it is on blizzard's behalf, and if it helps, i live in the dominican republic and i can ping d3 servers without any problems.

Sorry for the late response, Bluspacecow.

I have my own suspicions about what might be happening...I've read in other threads that the servers may be in 'survey' mode..and that higher latency connections won't be able to login. I'm not sure how accurate this is though because it didn't come from a Blue. But I think they tweaked something in the Authentication servers to only allow players below a certain latency into the game. It's just a theory though...It's frustrating though because if that IS what's happening, my connection should work fine. I was just able to 'facetime' with a buddy in Afghanistan for an hour but I can't login to Diablo 3, lol...

I'm getting this when opening and not when logging in. Doesn't appear to be an error so much as a "opps I can't find this or that" type warning. Log in just fine.

I have noticed the following files turned up in

My Home Folder -> Library -> Preferences

net.battle.plist
net.battle.authenticator.Prefs
net.battle.Identity.prefs

There's others under Blizzard / battle or diablo but they don't appear to be as interesting as those 3. There does not however appear to be a survey pref file as I thought before. You could try deleting those to see if that makes any difference.

Also would it be possible for you guys to pastebin your d3debug.txt files ?

Do a search and replace within them to remove your battle.net email tho. Change it to something I can do a search but that isn't your actual battle.net email.

You'll find your d3debug.txt in your Diablo III folder.

When that happens you usually have a preference file show up with survey turn up. This has a value written to it to say you've successfully done the survey. People with the wrong value weren't able to log in at all.

Much was made in beta about their new networking tech put it specifically to alleviate the effects of higher latency connections. This was done very very early on in beta and any code revisions after that would of been built on top of that. I don't think they would of turned around and gone "Hey guys. All that hard work yeah put in on the latency optimization tech. Means squat diddly as we're put in a your latency has to be below this line check"

That traceroute is terrible. Hop 2 looks to be your ISP's network. It is not normal to have 650+ms just to your ISP.

Does it end up looking better once you've run it a few times ? Hop 1 should not be that high. Run it again until you have below 2 ms on the first hop. Then post that traceroute

May help to post a traceroute to something you can connect with just fine latency.

Effectively what is happening is first D3 is attempting to call the login server. It's then disconnecting "giving up" as it can't find anyone at the other end after 6 minutes.

Now we have to figure out why it's timing out and why it's not getting an answer back.

Do you know how to drive the Terminal ?
