flat damage in most builds, but in a pets build go with the life per hit with fierce loyalty and the big stinker
flat damage is NOT the key to winning inferno, however the rest of the weapon gem attributes are a little too gimmicky for average builds
ruby (damage) loses eventually to emerald (crit damage) and with top gems by a high degree, even with only base crit chance (area 20k damage +).
currently 15,5% crit chance, 110% crit damage (60% emerald) with 2,2 attacks per second. can't tell you how often I crit with that speed. for me, ONE splinter can crit for up to 20k on act 4 inferno mobs, so that's quite decent, gonna rename to "Gatling Gun". x)
best emerald yields +100% crit damage (so 150% in total) where as ruby stops around 20-40 bonus damage, which, with a weapon that has ~900 (+mojo on top) solo damage rather nothing.
