Game Connection Has Been Lost

My brother is using a Mac and cannot play for even a second. As soon as he enters the game (if he gets past the load screen) it takes a while for his character to load in and nothing else loads. He's able to walk around but there are no NPC's or monsters at all. After a minute or two of just running around doing nothing, he gets the error message saying:

"The game connection has been lost, the client has been disconnected from the server."

He's tried turning off his firewall, joining General Chat, and turning his graphics down to the lowest setting. IDK what else he can do with a Mac to try and fix this (besides throw it outside and never buy one again).

Any help would be appreciated. He's already given up and I'm forced to stop enjoying the game myself to help him fix it, since he cannot get a refund.

Could use any type of response from Blizzard, please. I've searched the forum for this issue and none of the other threads have been asnwered either.

I made my own thread because the others were having issues later in the game while using certain abilities or in certain areas. My brother is having a similar issue, only he doesnt get to play the game at all. It happens right when he gets in the game... if he gets past the load screen.

He's already disappointed how he paid $60 for a game he can't even play. I already told him to never play games on a Mac. Still, would like some help on this issue please.

If you can post more information about how he is connecting, such as wifi, type of connection (cable, dsl, etc), and what has been attempted for troubleshooting, then we can see what else may be the issue. For the moment it sounds like the connection is just dropping or timing out.

He tried connection both wired and wirelessly. I just tried connecting with my Windows Laptop and it is running into the exact same problem. My desktop is wired to the same router and it runs flawlessly.

My Windows Laptop worked perfectly fine at a friends house wirelessly as well.

I don't know how to change the router settings because I forgot the login info for all that stuff.

As for the error message, all I'm getting is "The game connection has been lost, the client has been disconnected from the server." and nothing else. I'm then taken back to the account login screen.

I have a N600 Wireless Dual Band Router WNDR3400 (my desktop is wired to this and all other devices connect to this wirelessly) which is connected to a Dynex 10/100M Fast Ethernet Switch DX-ESW5 which is then connected to the modem. Our ISP is Airbaud.net (unsure what type of internet they are classified as).

Unfortunately I do not have access to my router because I live in an apartment building. I do have fantastic connection as I can stream in HD no problem and play pretty much every game except for Diablo III. For the "biggest PC" release of the year you would think they would have the foresight to have servers on both coasts.

It is not even as though the servers they do have make an attempt to connect with my computer. Literally as soon as I hit enter game from the Hero menu it says that the server cannot connect and disconnects me and THEN proceeds to freeze the game so that I have to minimize and quit out.

DOES ANYONE HAVE A REMEDY TO THIS!!!! IM LITERALLY NOT GETTING A CHANCE TO ENTER THE GAME FOR EVEN ONE MINUTE AND BLIZZARD STAFF TOLD ME AFTER AN HOUR ON HOLD THAT THEY CANT HELP IF THEIR SERVER DOESNT HAVE THE POWER TO CONNECT TO MINE.

I am NYC as a side note.

Try flushing the DNS from your computer and then renew your lease and see if it helps.

Flush the DNS
    1. Navigate to /Applications/Utilities/ and launch Terminal.
    2. Copy/Paste the following:
    dscacheutil -flushcache3. Press return.
    Note: You will not get any feedback from Terminal if this is done correctly on any OS.

Renew Lease
    1. Go in your Network pref pane => Advanced and click "Renew DHCP lease"
    2. Attempt to connect to the game and play

Should be able to find it in the Diablo III folder. Make sure to edit out your battle.net email.

Will do. I'm currently at work so I'll have to do it when I get home at 330 CST.

Keep in mind though, this has been happening on both my brothers Mac AND my Windows Laptop. I'm starting to believe it's my network... but it makes absolutely zero sense why my desktop works perfectly fine.

Same exact issue and it started recently. Was playing perfectly on my monk to lvl 35 on opening day. Was as happy as a clam. Then this started on Thursday and haven't been able to play for more than 5-10 mins at a time. Now needless to say not happy as a clam much until this gets resolved. Please and ty for any fast response. If you need anything from me let me know.

Any updates?

When I get home today I'll try and connect directly to the modem with the MacBook and the Laptop.

Still have no clue why my desktop works perfectly fine and the other two can't stay in-game for longer than 2 minutes.

Hi! I am experiencing the same issues - some levels wont load and the game either crashes or I get the disconnected message. I treid to keep the connection alive by direct connecting to the router via cable, setting the keep alive attribute via terminal and keeping the general chat window open.

For example, if I start a new character, it ALWAYS happens if I enter the Tavern for the first time. After restarting the game, it works. Now I am stuck at loading the Cathedral lvl 4.

I'm currently on my Windows laptop connected directly to the modem (I'm not connecting through both the router and the switch).

Still getting the exact same error. Whats weird is when I chose my hero and start the game, I get the load screen. It will try and load for a while and then I get the error "The game connection has been lost, the client has been disconnected from the server." With the message in the middle of the screen, I can see the arena interface in the background. At the top there's the red team and blue team and in the center is 8 slots with the top 4 being blue and the bottom 4 being red.

Not sure if this is relevant, but thought I'd let you know

I am having the same problem as Jahaga. I have tried continually for about an hour and just have no idea what else I can try. I've run it as an administrator, turned of all torrenting programs, refreshed pretty much everything, restarted my net and it still won't work. Would love a fix.
