1 hand dps help

So i currently am using a blue fist weapon:

913.6 dps
299-807 dmg
165 APS
193-563 lightning dmg
18% attack speed

going up from a 543 dps 1h with 221 dex and 45% crit dmg i saw a 3000 dmg increase. My question is, would i see a benefit from say a rare with 813ish dmg but with dex/as/? on it or should i just save for the more expensive high stat/dmg rares?

It really depends on your build.
Basically dps>dex.
if u has a shield as offhand then u don't really need the dex from the main hand, unless the weapon has an extreme dex.

221 dex effectively triples the damage of the weapon, making it a 1600 DPS weapon automatically.

This is true, but dexterity not on your weapon increases your damage based on your weapon's stated DPS, rather than the effective DPS it provides.

So if you have your 550 DPS with 200 Dex on it, and 200 more on gear, you have 550 + 550 * 4 = 2750 damage.

Take your 900 DPS weapon with no Dex, but with 200 Dex on gear as before, and you get 900 + 900*2 = 2700.

Just a little more Dex from gear and your bigger weapon will pull ahead considerably.
