Will pets ever be good in Hell or Inferno...

Also let me rephrase the question.

Will pets be viable in Hell and Inferno with the gear that is aviable to them without having to AH or RMAH to make a build worth the trouble?

Look at all the passives related to pets 6-7 could be consider for pets. I will not mention the spells since most of the WD attack have some sort of pet like texture to them frogs, spiders, bats, bears, and etc.

So in my eyes we are a pet class. Dart build for inferno just seems so blah unless you have such a good weapon and a ton of int that you are 1 shotting trash. Bears are still better for me since my gear is not good enough.

I have said in prior post I always play the pet classes. Sorry I like pets =/. Necromancer is what I played the longest in the series. They are far better pet class then WD could ever could be even with the best gear possible. If I am wrong please point me to the gear, spec, and I will grind as much as I can to get it. The build has to be able to do all of inferno bosses and etc.

I seen some kind soul testing stats to see if they help pets thats great and thank you very much for doing so. Yet, I still do not think the build is viable compared to the Necromancer. I think from Blizzards past games more stats need to go toward the pets. We already have to stack so many stats as is right now. Yet, a slow burn pet spec I would enjoy. Just because I like pet classes.

How long would you all estimate for pets to be fixed or even adjusted at all?

Pets are just not worth it. Seems like the way to go is either VQ-Bears or PtV-Splinters.

The thread you mentioned is a good source of info for what gear to look for- and i'm certain i've seen several pet-inferno builds, the problem is that they just are not as efficient as other builds currently. It could be because people just have not found the perfect sweet spot for gearing a build like this that adds enough pet survivability, yet does not detract from dps too much. I think it would be more expensive to find the very specific gear - all to be less efficient at the same content as one of the more popular builds.

Trust me on this, without spending some coin, a heavily pet related build (which is honestly hard to do since there are only 2 true pet skills that don't have a time limit) is NOT viable. You will do worse in comparison to most other builds you see on this forum. I just recently decided to use the AH and it does help if you've saved up 100,000+ gold and go for the right kind of gear, but without it I was very meh.
Even with AH gearing, it won't be as cost effective. I hope within a month or so for it to be balanced though.

The closest you can get is using Fetish Sycophants to spawn a Fetish for 1 minute. They don't inherent your stats, they have a Zelda style "hit cap" where they take X number of hits. Very durable and fast buggers.

The two pronged problem with pets at the moment: they're not good enough without gear if we keep them the way they are, but if we buff them a little bit, the geared Inferno Summoners would absolutely roll face with their mass CC build.

If anything, they can try fixing pet AI to let them take more initiative; Fetishes tend to hang out with you more often if the enemies are a little over 20 yards away...

How about allowing the WD to equip their Guartuan fully similar to the hero for hire. This would not help dogs but I guess doing the same for dogs would be nice. I have a feeling will be a base percent of stats and vitality is not the answer.

Anybody have a clue how pets are scaled to players? A pet info panel in-game would be nice.

Edit: As for dogs, it seems since act 2 nightmare, the only two things they can do are suck and die.
