The funny thing is that pets can work for you if you gear wrongly for a WD.

Shield, Str, Armor, Thorns, Resists, Int, Life Regen on WD gear makes summons catch the difficulty level that you play, BUT its weakens your DPS since you preferred the survivalness of your summons.

Considering that point, that you cannot be a roflstomper bringer of doom dart blower and Dr. Zomboness at the same time, i guess that its from the player choose what fit it best +)

customization bros =)

I tried using pets with 5k armor and 700 resists in Act 2 inferno and they were useless. The spike damage is too much for them.. any elite pack one shots all dogs and kills a garg in 2-3 melee hits. Any kind of elemental damage is an instant kill on both.

If you gear up like your a barb then pets will survive, but if you gear up like a WD they wont.

the very design of your stats being transfered over to your pets is flawed. Your a caster, your not suppose to have high defense stats your suppose to beable to control that battlefield with dots, aoedots and status effects. yet your pets are suppose to tank and decoy for you while you do this.

The only stat that should scale pets is int, to me this is a no brainer.
Now if you was like the druid in D2 where your meant to fight along side your pets then sure having your defense and other stats scared with your wolves would make sense.

thats how I feel about it, take it for what it is.

they don't have the health or the self healing to survive like a barb so even if you gear like one there is only so far you can go with them before they are dieing instantly and you are waiting on cooldown 90% of the time.

A Witch Doctor in ACT 4 Inferno just tanked Rakanoth like it was NOTHING in a 4 player game.
Before he came..it was me (wizard) and 2 demon hunters and we were getting OWNED.

WD comes in and we didn' t need to move all fight..pets tanked everything it seemed.
WE WERE ALL IMPRESSED DIDNT KNOW WD's could do that.

Anyone know HOW he did it?!?!?

Might start a WD now lol.

What's the difference between gearing up like a barb and gearing up like a wizard or DH (ie stacking your primary stat and ias)?

Gearing to enhance WD abilities is gearing like a WD. By definition.

Was Rakanoth stunned/frozen most of the time? If yes, you just witnessed the power of the summoner.

10%+ "Chance on Hit: Stun"
5%+ "Chance on Hit: Freeze"
After 5k+ armor/800+ resist2all: Get at least enough vitality to survive more than 1 hit from a4 NPCs. Vitality will not benefit your pets, only you.
@This point, you'll want as much Life Regen as possible. Life Regen is what keeps your pets alive. The more you can get, the better.

This will be the build you'll want to use.

Pets don't work past a2 inferno.

If you want to pretend you figured out something that thousands of other witch doctors haven't figured out and want to blow all your gold on gearing this way... then so be it.

Just don't come crying here after you hit the a3/inferno wall with pets.

I'm not sure why people are determined to shoot down attempts by the community to attempt a successful pet build.

If you've given it a shot and determined that it's useless, cool have fun with your current build.

However, if other people are struggling valiantly to make pets work in every act, why not just let them? Just, you know, remember that you're not obligated to comment. Or, maybe get into the theorycrafting and try to throw some ideas out there.

WD pets work just fine in A2+ if you spend half a billion gold in gear, just as Barbarian tanks work just fine in A2+ with half a billion gold of gear. It's not a big secret. I mean, you can even go with a suicide Zombie Bear build with pets as two of your VQ CDs and finish Inferno without that much gear. Who cares?

Yeah, pets can work. That's not the problem. The problem is making pets work is like intentionally handicapping yourself right now, but Blizzard knows this and they are looking into a fix, so there.
