Diablo® III

Quarantine Cheaters!

Bad idea. Sorry, but why reward cheaters?

"You got caught cheating but you can still play anyway". Instead, ban hammer them into non-existence!
How are you rewarding these people? You found out this guy is a cheater/hacker. Pull him out off the normal MP crowd, Tagged his name wit a cheater affix, put him in the same room with other cheaters with no access to normal MP grounds and watch them play with their hacks against each other.

The whole point of hacking or cheating is to gain advantage over normal, honest people that also ruin their fun and you in the end gain a false sense of superiority over yourself. Cheaters griefing cheaters is such a fun thing to watch. Watch their excitement wane when other people cheats on em.

Very much this.

Really is a great idea. Whoever thought this up is a genius.

Yeah, then just like a person who goes to prison for a minor charge becomes more of a criminal, the cheaters will learn even more hacks and methods and be able to cheat more effectively in other games or when they get released from the cheater pool. This will backfire. Ban is the answer.

But they can't ever play with the general population.. are you missing the point or what?

Won't happen but it's a nice idea.

Blizzard wants the cheaters to purchase that 2nd copy.....PROFIT!

Rockstar have just won the internets.

Anyone found to have used hacked saves, modded games, or other exploits to gain an unfair advantage in Max Payne 3 Multiplayer, or to circumvent the leaderboards will be quarantined from all other players into a "Cheaters Pool", where they'll only be able to compete in multiplayer matches with other confirmed miscreants.

Fantastic idea! Do it Blizzard.

I really prefer the ban hammer. Rock Star took a novel approach and I hope it works for them but at the end of the day, I wanna see cheaters lose their ability to play completely.

Actually Rock Star said they will see about whether atonement can be achieved after a certain period of time but they haven't finalized any details. They are separated indefinitely, not necessarily permanently.

Fantastic idea.

Now all they need to do is get control of the cheater's microphones to record all the tears when they get cheated on and display it for all to see :D

Then everyone gets banned on purpose so they can continue to cheat.

If there is one thing that cheaters/hackers don't like that is being found out. Hackers live for the thrill of doing something unethical/immoral/illegitimate without others knowing or catching them on the spot by an authority figure. So branding them with an iron that says a big CHEATER after their name is already a big deal to them adding the fact that they can't access normal MP and be pitted against with another cheater is already a low blow on their ego. It's like finding a criminal and gouging a scar tattoo on their forehead that says CRIMINAL all in caps and launching them off earth and drop-bomb them to the moon or whatever. A hacker has a mentality that if you ban them they will just make another account and pray hope they don't get found out the nth time again I repeat the "Nth time", quarantine them and they won't know what to do because they will keep hitting a wall wherein they can't decide whether to buy/make another copy/account because they already have a current, functional existing one. Bullies don't like to be bullied by another bully.

Anonymity is their best weapon and tagging them while still letting them interact with fellow hackers is just salt to the wound.

Acknowledge, Brand and Isolate.

I say no ban but quarantine with no atonement system or whatsoever. Best form of punishment.

Wow, this is a fantastic idea.

Also flag all those who cheated with a tag on the forums that says cheater so that the rest of the world can make fun of their incompetence.

That is actually fantastic and I approve, however in the case of Diablo 3 I'd rather just have their accounts deleted and have them not play at all. Maybe afterwards we can find where they live and attach road kill to their front door with a staple gun.
