Repair Costs - The bull in the china shop

God I love mythbusters.

Anywho, I'm fine with the repair costs, but my gear hasn't reached that average 61+

So it's probably a lot more painful at those levels.

@Urbanevil, my issue is not even caused by playing on levels that are too high. My issue happens only because of the fact my gear is level 53 or above. Your supposed logic does not even apply to my issue, so yes, it is Blizzarrds fault that my repairs have skyrocketed. I would take the extra costs for hits or deaths, but this isn't the case.

The irony here is to great, you name yourself AGodAmongMen, yet are complaining about simple things like repair costs. Im sorry i have all 60+ gear as well as 6 legendarys currently equipped, my repair costs are not running me broke, so whats the issue? As a matter of fact, since the patch i have increased my earnings with the 5 NV buff and just running thru entire acts killing elites. L2P, or don't complain, simple as that.

Bulls: quite elegent and spacially aware, yet still tasty.
@Oakshado, you obviously didn't even read my post from the first page and decided to just post your personal opinion. Repair costs are not just tied to dieing or taking hits..... I will repost for you since you didn't even bother reading any posts before you posted.

WD here, and when I drop AOEs (such as Acid Cloud / with Acid Rain), I get a way higher repair bill for unintentionally breaking environmental elements. This is especially bad with the latest patch (as far as cost). It's almost 100G per vase / barrel/ or whatever break which is 1000G per ten and so on and so on. So, zombie bears is broke, ias for poison dart is broke, and I can't use AOEs now for fear of exponential repair bills from not even taking hits or dieing. Can you atleast turn off damage for AOE spells so I don't get repair bills for vases and pots or whatever that I am not even intentionally trying to break.
If repair costs are meant to curb inflation, then make repair costs a percentage of total gold rather than a flat rate. Don't punish casual players, and make skilled players play better. Gold is shared across all characters on an account, after all.

Obviously it would take a little fleshing out the details to get a balance, but it seems more logical. Like taxes.
I can't see, for the life of me, why they didn't just increase the loss on death to 40 or 50% durability. It accomplishes the exact same thing, with the added benefit of not costing a fortune to take a single hit from a mob.
Lots of intelligent solutions. We still need acknowledgement. Does everyone agree it's odd that not a single blue post addresses this?

It's a bull in the china shop only because apparently a large population of people are not quite acclimated to a very simple game design. I had someone try to explain to me that it was blizzards fault, because he wanted to be gung-ho and attempt content he had no buisness being in, yet it was blizzards fault his repair cost's have skyrocketed. If this logic is something that you wish to defend, i feel very sorry for the future of america, as well as this game.

The repair cost increase was to combat death zerging, but the problem is that it now interferes with general play in a negative manner. This is due to the simultaneous nerf to MF, object drops, gold drops, and mob drops.

The death zerging problem could have been addressed in a number of ways:

1. Increase durability loss via death but allow normal wear and tear to remain as it was. This punishes dying, but encourages ppl to actually play the game and not rely on the gah/rmah or other gold farming techniques

2. Have the mob packs reset upon death making zerging impossible. This solves the problem handily. Was it too complicated for blizz to figure out?

3. They could have had a limited number of deaths per zone/check point forcing a reset following several simultaneous deaths. Honestly, I wouldn't like this, but hey I'm just throwing out ideas here.

If they wanted more gold sinks there are also several more enticing ways to go about it.

I break every single pot/vase/weapon rack/etc..., once again I AM NOT CRYING AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS BECAUSE REPAIR COSTS ARE TO BAD, so once again let's rehash.

We both own the same game with the same set of parameter's/rules correct? YES

Your repair costs are driving you broke? Yes

My repair costs are not driving me broke? Yes

How is this blizzards fault again?

Well, I am glad you have bad grammar and speak with a demeaning tone. It makes your responses seem even more educated. Your response is only taken with a grain of salt with me due to your narrow sight, and lack of understanding. Based on your opinion, the game should only be based around your opinion, or everyone else is doing it wrong...

Oh, and for your clarity, we do not have the same character, nor do we have the same gear. What does that equal? Not the same repair cost....

Wrong we are taxing the poorly geared and the new players to Inferno and discouraging community. Again awaiting a blue acknowledgement of this issue.

Which community manager has the fortitude to address the 90% negative feedback surrounding repair costs

Oh... I guess me.

No one is going to like additional repair costs. I'm not sure how any feedback would be "Great, I really love paying more for repair costs." however, we have seen enough feedback and data to show that the ratio is pretty good as long as people aren't throwing their character's corpses against enemies. Death has meant nothing for a very long time now. It's going to take some getting used to and just understanding that death is no longer something that just happens, it should be something you're really fighting to avoid, and potentially being smarter about tackling content you can actually tackle.

That said, we think the normal wear and tear is maybe too high. Just fighting is probably too expensive, and we're looking at potential adjustments there.

Apparently your comprehension is not that good, let me try to rephrase this!

We both have the same game! (YAY!)

Said game has the same rules for both of us! (YAY!)

Your having problems, I am not (YAY!)

This is somehow blizzards fault?

Im seriously missing the issue here apparently, Ive seen so many people cry and moan like self absorbed baby's for the past 2 days, If people were to take half of that effort and apply it to the game i bet there problems would be solved! But i digress...
I think blizzard really effed this up with the repair costs and they need to rectify it ASAP. I am broke and cannot repair and I am pissed!
Toxic responses like this have no place in this thread. We simply want the community managers to acknowledge the concerns of a large number of players, and if you aren't one of them then don't respond.

For those of you who think its ok..... !@#$ you. I am sitting here in my friggen clothes and I cant even fix my %^-* to get gold.

Stupidest !@#$ing patch idea to date

Your bad, i hear facebook has games maybe thats more up your alley? Hate to be blunt, but ya know not everyone can grow up to be the president, some ppl gotta be janitors..
