Since Cain died, should we have an expansion, could we get Covetous Shen to be the new Deckard Cain? Shen is hilarious and seems theres more to him than meets the eye. Get the scoundrel ( thief , jewels...seems a good fit) to take over the jewelcrafting, since most people prefer to use either the Templar or Enchantress anyway. Just my 2 cents since the servers are down :p
you are making 3 assumptions.
1) people don't use the scoundrel. (i did a lot of times)
2) they won't buff him to make him more useful
3) Shen couldn't be the jewelcrafter and a quest given.
Bad assumptions to make. Plus the easiest way to do this would just to give Shen an apprentice not try to manipulate one of the other story arcs to fit your needs.
Despite all this I think you have one thing right. I think that the expansion will focus on searching for the Jewel containing the monster/demon/whatever that Shen is looking for.
Ouch! Sorry to have offended you!
(1)Like I said, just a suggestion. Also I said most (regarding the scoundrel) not all.
(2)You're assuming the followers are going to get buffed. For our sake I hope they do.
(3)An apprentice to replace Shen? Sure! I just didn't like the idea of an artisan being the quest giver just in case he got killed. (I thought we killed his apprentice/follower in the sewers?)
Yeah I was thinking the same thing regarding the expansion and that jewel Shen keeps talking about.
Shen speaks in riddles instead of giving a clear answer, quite the opposite of Cain. I do like his personality and have no problems with him 'explaining' stuff to us, in riddles that make us actually figure them out. Scoundrel doing jewelcrafting? He 'works' on them in the sense of stealing the stuff, not crafing!
I actually wanted Kull to be the new Cain. It felt weird being able to kill him while the Horadrim couldn't and he actually was, although obviously mad, a good guy.
I think we have to battle Dirgest as an event, though. Not in the main plot.

I don't think so. In the new book, The Order. It is said that Cain was looking for other living Horadrims.
Here, an abstract from the book:
Amid the mounting dread, Deckard Cain uncovers startling new information that could bring about the salvation—or ruin—of the mortal world: other remnants of the Horadrim still exist. He must unravel where they have been and why they are hiding from one of their own.
As Cain searches for the lost members of his order, he is thrust into an alliance with an unlikely ally: Leah, an eight-year-old girl feared by many to carry a diabolical curse. What is her secret? How is it tied to the prophesied End of Days? And if there are other living Horadrim, will they be able to stand against oblivion? These are the questions Deckard Cain must answer . . .
. . . before it is too late.
