Weapon Strengths?

So i'm sure there is some unknown working behind the scenes in the game i don't comprehend, but i have a few questions regarding weapons for my monk. Well, really any character in general. First, why is it that Mace weapons seem to be clearly more powerful than other types? Is it that they only get two properties? Also, what is the benefit of a two handed weapon? I have found some good ones, but none seem to compare to the damage output of dual wielding? Thanks in advance!

This also send me for a loop.
As Far as I have been able to Gather, Dual wielding grants higher Dps for 2 reason.
-One handed weaps have higher attack rate
With two 1-Handed weapons, in which both have have attack rate than 2-hnd Weapons, dual wielding has higher attack rate despite the higher damage of the 2-hnd.

- While Dual Wielding you have two different weapons power coming together(not true in skills, skills get there power from for main hand weapon i believe. Although a dually Barb skills i have no clue since there skills use both hands in the animations) anyway... two weaker weapons together seem stronger then a 2 handed weapons.

ASLO NOTE: Definitely depends a lot also on your stats. and the stats of each weapon in question. numerous times ive found myself picking a 2 hnd over duals cause it was better for whatever reason.

It's because it's hard to find two really good black dps 1 handed weapons
With two handed weapons like skorn they have a really high dps and are easier to get

If you have the money, wouldn't the AH solve finding the items?
