Diablo® III

Taking terrible, terrible damage

(Locked)

After this last patch my character started taking insane damage from monsters. Players suspect that the "increase all resistances" stat is not working as intended, others claim this is a silent/ninja nerf.
It feels extremely lame to me that so far major changes to how the game plays out for me are not a result of me changing my gear or play-style, rather it all happens over night after a patch.
Assistance would be very much appreciated.
Others have theorized that enemies have had their attack speed increased, but to be honest it doesn't necessarily surprise me.

An increase in difficulty timed with them enabling gold auctions on the RMAH, it reminds of a gas company hiking up the prices when a holiday comes around.

Guess we will see what happens with this.
Hi Noxifer,

There have been no recent hotfixes nor changes to the resistances, monster damage, nor elemental damage.

In patch 1.0.3 vanilla, we changed how much damage certain monsters do. There are still a few monster variants that are doing too much damage, but those are bugged and are hopefully going to be fixed in 1.0.4.

As always, patch notes will be posted in the main Home section of the forums. Recent hotfixes can be found here and here. If a change of this magnitude was made, we would tell players about it. We aren't hiding anything.

So even though dozens of people on multiple forums are all reporting extra damage from elemental affixes, no change made? It's just a multinational mass delusion of epic proportions?

We test all of the game's content for every single patch that goes out. In addition, I help verify every single hotfix that goes out for this game. If anyone would know what was changed, it is me.

If there is a bug in there somewhere, that is one thing. What I am telling you, based on information given to me by my team members this morning, is that we've been checking these numbers since 1.0.3 vanilla launched and nothing has changed patch to patch, let alone overnight. Absolutely no Diablo III game data even changed with 1.0.3b, it was a Battle.net and Battle.net client patch.

We've also read all of these threads reported on Reddit, these forums, and other fan sites. We check every report, and right now there were no changes to these numbers in the game's data.

Well I'm not saying it was intentional, mind you. I'm just saying lots of people are reporting it. I haven't got anything deep enough into Inferno to test at the level other people are testing, but I -can- tell you that my Monk in Hell absolutely takes nothing seriously damage wise except Molten/Arcane/Desecrator/Mortar/Plagued damage (including enemies who have things like Mortar naturally.)

Do elemental damage types do far more damage than physical by nature? Do resists not mitigate damage at the rate we think it does (The common maxim being 10:1 between Armour and Resist All)? I mean my Monk flat out ignores packs of Hulking Phasebeasts, which give my Wizard problems - a difference between dodge and armour ratings between the two. They have about equal resists though, and my Monk has to take elemental damage seriously, but the Wizard doesn't - the Monk has far less hp, though, so it's understandable.

I mean I usually take everything said in this forum - especially complaints - with a grain of salt, but it seems odd almost everyone is noticing this.
I am tired of the spin and misinformation that Blizzard feeds us with the patch notes and CM postings. This is just another example. Mass amounts of people are reporting something has changed. I have observed it as well and it is frustrating to see you straight out deny it. Just like how rubberbanding must be because of poor internet connections.
Thanks guys. As a Quality Assurance Analyst I have absolutely nothing to hide from you. I don't work for the Community team nor do I report to PR.
