Poor Wirt. His mother often read to him the story of Piper Pan, a young boy who refused to grow up in the world of Noteverland. After she was violently murdered by demons from Hell, Wirt thought himself alike to Piper, probably as a result of extreme grief, encroaching madness, and plain old childhood fantasy. He even went as far as believing that the cowbell he had was enchanted and could take him to Noteverland if only he rang it. He dared not try until he was hiding inside a rotten log while abominations laid waste to his home around him. Ironically, instead of saving his life, the bell alerted the horrors around him to his location. Not to say that it didn't work. He soon found himself flying outside the realm of Sanctuary and into the realm of Noteverland with Piper Pan and Wandy. Fate can be cruel at times, but at least his hard life had a gruesomely happy ending as he slowly bled out on the dirt ground. The smile only faded away from his whitening face as his heart played its final beat.
