If you have 30k life, and you wear a +10% life, you will get 3000 life.

Don't give wrong information please.

+life is based off your vitality.

If you have 1000 vitality, +10% life adds 100 vitality.
If you have 500 vitality, +10% life adds 50 vitality.

So %Life is not based off of your life percentage, but your total vitality? Hmmmm logic check needed.

You've already been corrected but I'll pile on.

The stat is called "life percent", not "vitality percent". If I put on gear with 10% life, my life goes up exactly 10% and my vitality does not move.

It is based on your (base HP pool) that is determined by (vitality x 35HP)

If it were based truely on (HP) it would compound as such
10% life x 30K life = 33K life
now add another item
10% life x 33K life = 36.3K life

When it actually does this because it is based on your (base HP pool) determined directly by your vitality
10% life + 10% life = 20% life X 30K life = 36K life

It is based on vitality because if you had more than one peice with %life it would compound.

If it were truely based on HP it would go
10% life x 30K life = 33K life
now add another item
10% life x 33K life = 36.3K life

When it actually does this because it is VIT based
10% life + 10% life = 20% life X 30K life = 36K life

It makes no difference how you calculate it.

1000 vit = 35000 life.
Add 10% to life or vit = 38500 life.
But the vit total in your character sheet doesn't change, only the life does, so it adds to life, not vit.

Simple really

i edited my post to better express my thoughts, but your explanation is a little too simple.

it is true that vitality does not change with a % life based item.

But the number is directly tied to your vitality (x35HP) and not the current "snapshot" of your total HP pool that could already have enhancements affecting it.

You're all making it confusing.

Your gear gives you 1000 vitality. This makes your BASE life = 35,000 at level 60.

Any life% you add will be based on your BASE life. +10%life = +3,500 BONUS life.
You find another piece of gear with +5%life. +5%life = +1,750 life (5% of BASE).
With the two pieces together, you now have 39,250 TOTAL life (35,000 BASE +4,250 BONUS life from the +15%)

Life% values are all added together first, and then that final sum is multiplied by your base life, which is determined by how much vitality you have.
