If you copy and paste this C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\ into a windows explorer address bar it will open the folder with the agent.db file in it, just copy the agent.db file to your desktop or such as a backup.

This helped a lot, thanks!

For me i had to search "C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\agent.db" in my start menu then "open with" wordpad.

Thanks for the help narull

Hey Narull, since people for some reason cant grasp the concept of what you are telling them in 4 Lines under:

"1. Open the file C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\agent.db (in wordpad)
2. Change all references of http://enSG.patch.battle.net:1119/patch to http://enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch (save and close)
3. Run game client"

Maybe you could start directing them the Sticky in bugs and fixes (where people should be going anyway for these kind of issues) entitled "(STICKY) A NEW PATCH IS AVAILABLE - WORKAROUND" which give a massive step by step breakdown of how to solve the patch loop problem that everyone is having.

The servers are also going down, so might have to wait till they are back up again.

In XP it is at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Battle.net\Agent\

There should be 3 sets of http://enSG.patch.battle.net:1119/patch which you have to change to http://enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch

then you just save and close the file and run the client and it should patch to 1.0.4

If it doesn't then something has gone wrong or you possibly modified the wrong file. Best bet is to copy and paste the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Battle.net\Agent\ into a windows explorer address bar so you know your at the right spot.

Thanks Narull

I'll stop wasting your time, because I followed these very simple steps and it still doesn't work..

Hello, I just went through the process described above. Now I have lost my character.

Firstly I made the change to the C:\ProgramData\Battle.net\Agent\agent.db. Having ascertained that the client I had was the enSG client, I changed the agent to reflect this. So I changed all the http://enSG.patch.battle.net:1119/patch to 'enUS'

I started the client, and changed the language to Brazillian and the patch started downloading...which took awhile.

I opened the client again after it completed and changed the region to the America's and it said i was still running 1.03...hi patch loop.

So I went through the process of downloading the correct client and reinstalling... which enabled me to access battle.net... but my lv 45 Wizard is no longer accessible. To be honest i was looking to start again cause I was bored, but all the same I would like to get my character back or at least help someone else avoid this issue.

Cheers

Hey Narull quick question if I change http://enSG.patch.battle.net:1119/patch to http://enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch will it effect me playing Starcraft 2 at all?

Your character is still there your just on the wrong server right now, before logging in go to Options-Account and change your server region, you are connected to the wrong one =)

I just tried the client download on Internode and I was downloading at 800k sometimes going up to 1mb. The client IS resumeable too so you can download some now then stop the download and resume it later if that helps.

Thanks for the reply. You've been helpful as always.

Worked well for me....thanks Narull!!!

Actually, tried for a few times but still couldn't work. Then I realised I was editing the wrong file.... ><"

Editing C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo III\agent.db file instead of the one at the Battle.net folder....
