@Narull - Hi thanks, Yep it is xp, so I eventually found the file in documents and settings.. after doing a search for it..
I have changed all 3 patch files from SG to US, and still nothing?
Am i meant to download anything maybe?

Hello, I just went through the process described above. Now I have lost my character.
So I went through the process of downloading the correct client and reinstalling... which enabled me to access battle.net... but my lv 45 Wizard is no longer accessible. To be honest i was looking to start again cause I was bored, but all the same I would like to get my character back or at least help someone else avoid this issue.

Won't change SC2 at all.
I just tried the client download on Internode and I was downloading at 800k sometimes going up to 1mb. The client IS resumeable too so you can download some now then stop the download and resume it later if that helps.
