I read in the latest T&C's that blizzard now monitors 3rd party software, and I'm worried that i might get banned if I have certain programs open.
I am doing a computer programming with my degree, so might the compiler I use (Plato IDE and cmd) be detected as a 3rd party botting software? Other than that I usually have word, excel and VLC open and some other utilities. I can assure you that I have no botting programs, or exploiting programs, but was wondering if we could safely run these other programs? thanks

As a CS grad myself, I can tell you that dev environment and tools won't interfere (having Visual Studio 2010, Python IDE, Eclipse, etc. on my machine). Where you may come to an issue is with tools that automate your clicks. You tend to see this mostly in a corporate environment when testing can be a time-consuming process. The automation software allows you to test without touching your keyboard...it will fill in text, it will click, it will move the mouse, etc. These tolls are used by botters to simulate playing while they are AFK and that IS against the terms of use.
Having your preferred IDE should cause no problem because I've had multiple open while playing. |

Keep in mind, tools like Visual Studio do have a debugging environment within them and can trigger a ban if used on Blizzard based applications (WoW, D3, etc.) as [Blizzards anti-cheat] Warden can detect you being attached to their process. |

Well as long as you don't have the debugger tied to their process, you should be in the clear. I have been debugging solutions repeatedly while playing and having had any issues. Granted, your online experience may differ.
If nothing else, just kill all IDE processes before playing |
