Diablo® III

Followers...

I'm sure this has been talked to death, but are there any plans to make the followers not ridiculously worthless? Even when equipped with a good weapon, the followers still do like 1/15 of the damage you can with the same weapon. All they provide is a meager stat boost.

I remember the followers in D2, where if you gave them the right weapon they could match your dps, or provide an incredible buff (Insight or Infinity). At the very least, though, they would provide a great damage boost, and if geared right would make an excellent meat shield.

I want my follower to feel like a companion, not that one insanely annoying and useless follower from Elder Scrolls Morrowind (the guy that followed you after you got so far in the arena, and all he did was provide a torch at night).

The strat with followers is to equip them with one of the legendaries which summon, or status effect items.

E.g. I had a set for my chantress which gave her a 24% chance to make the enemy stop attacking.

gear them properly.

regen+vit+primary on token

primary,vit, ias,mf on ammy/ring

weapon = high primary, vit, dps and cold weapon OR legendary.

eg: enchantress with maximus or tormentor.
scoundrel with a cold bow and high attack speed will chill.. give him a windforceif you are rich. but you need to stack crit chance on his ammy/rings to benefit from crit dmg.

I also forgot to add that there is no reason at all that the followers should not be allowed in multiplayer. Their impact, even with the right gear (except for the absolute best gear) is kind of minor.

I also need to add in a simple question. Why on Earth does NOTHING attack my followers, unless it is by accident (Sorry man, didn't mean for that arcane sentry to hit you)? I frequently see my companion just chill there like he (or she) and the monsters are sharing a damn beer.

Never fear! We're actually actively looking into the relative strength of followers. :)

I still don't understand why they nerfed follower damage by 80%. I enjoyed my Templar in the closed beta when he was actually doing damage with each hit. It's not like his attack speed was fast enough to cause any balance issues.

Wasn't it because Tyrael owned monsters while you kept your grave on the ground (not resurrectinging, but letting Tyrael fight what killed you and win)?

Yeah hopefully we'll see some Follower Lovin on 1.0.5.

Right now I just stick them with GF/MF items and dont give an eff if they die, since their bonuses are still provided when they're incapped.

I laugh heartily everytime a follower does a grunt because he spent too long in the Descrator pool like a derp.

I also hope your Follower wont spawn before you while you're still in ghost form.

Because that's plain annoying.

Follower damage was nerfed before Tyrael was.

Yes, this would be a plus for sure. Why not increase the difficulty to what a two player game would be and unleash the true power of the death star i mean follower!:)

Great! This makes me feel like the words "actively looking into" almost have some specific context to real actions!

That was to help people feel strong and powerful and get them exited about the game.

Followers "kneel" when you die and stop attacking, so any abuse through that method isn't going to happen.

gear them properly.

Please.

There's no such thing as "gearing them properly", because no matter what you do, they're terrible for anything besides being glorified stat sticks for passive buffs, and MF/GF.

what if you were playing solo and could use your follower as a spawn point that way you dont have to run 10 miles everywhere!!!!
