My name is Aidan, Prince of Khanduras. I am the eldest son of King Leoric and the brother of the kidnapped Prince Albrecht. I return to Tristram to find my brother after the failed war against Westmarch, only to find that my father, King Leoric and friend, Sir Lachdanan, are both dead. Together with a rogue from the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye, a sorcerer of the Vizjerei Clan and other warriors, we descended into the catacombs below Tristram Cathedral to search for Prince Albrecht. After the battle against Diablo, I had a brief relationship with Adria the Witch. My daughter is Leah. Deckard Cain is Leah's adopted Uncle.

Many moons have passed since I left the town of Tristram behind me. Since then, I've tried to forget the terrors I beheld beneath the cold earth and the twisted nightmares that are haunting my every waking moment. There's something dark within me now. I can feel it driving me towards the east, assuring me that my salvation lies within the ruins of ancient kingdoms. Though I know the way, I know not what perils will arise to hinder my journey. And as I pass through the first gate, I know that the better part of my soul will remain behind... forever.

story redeemed. OP should have made it so he did not know who his family was. it would fit into the story better. |

During my moments of sanity, I stopped to ponder on the events of the past. I lived with my family in Tristram as I grew up. I served in my father, King Leoric's army and was under the command of Lachdanan when he led the assault against Westmarch. We laid siege on their bastion, but this ended with disaster as our army was decimated by the paladins of Westmarch.
I returned to Tristram to learn that my father, King Leoric, had become insane and had been killed by Lachdanan, who in turn had been cursed by my father to eternal torment for treason. My mother, Queen Asylla, had been executed by my insane father for "treason" under the advice of the Archbishop Lazarus. My brother Prince Albrecht had been kidnapped by the Archbishop Lazarus and was held deep within the catacombs underneath the Tristram Cathedral. With my close companions, a rogue and a sorceror (now known as Blood Raven and the Summoner), I journeyed into the depths of the labyrinth under the Cathedral. At the entrance of the cathedral, we met Kael Rills, a townsman who was wounded by a savage monster, known only as the Butcher. We found the Butcher in a small, corpse-filled, square room on level 2 of the dungeon. We opened the door, and he burst forth in a frenzy, growling, "Ahh, fresh meat!". He hacked at us savagely with his cleaver. I parried his blows deftly and led him down a corrider. My companion the Summoner had cast a Firewall spell here, and I led the Butcher into it. I then ran out through a door and locked it and Blood Raven fired at him through the grill, killing him. We retrieved his cleaver, a weapon I used from time to time during our quest in the catacombs. I returned to Tristram after our battle with the Butcher. Ogden the innkeeper informed us that my father had reanimated from the dead as the Skeleton King and had raised up an undead army in Level 3 of the catacombs. I led my companions down to meet him. Even in death, he was a giant skeletal warrior, at least 3 meters tall and carried a great sword. Armed with a staff of Holy Bolt, I made short work of his undead skeletons. The Summoner blasted at my father with Holy Bolt spells, as I sneaked behind him and bashed his skull in with a mace. We retrieved his Crown, the Blessed Crown of Khanduras, now cursed with unholy powers of Life Stealing. We found Lachdanan in Level 14 of the dungeon. He had been cursed by King Leoric, and was damned to hell. We found a special golden elixir on Level 15 which helped to ward off the curse. He thanked us by giving us his great helm, the Veil of Steel.

We found the Staff of Lazarus at level 15 of the catacombs, which we brought to Deckard Cain to be examined. He revealed that the Archbishop had turned evil and was the one holding my brother hostage in the catacombs below. We entered a red portal leading to the Unholy Altar.
After reading the two Books of Vileness, we teleported into his domain. We cut down the hordes of Hellspawn succubi and the Advocate mages found there with ranged weapons and spells. The Archbishop Lazarus taunted us and his eyes glowed blood red. He had two succubi bodyguards, Red Vex and Blackjade, which we blasted with fireballs and chain lightning spells. I fought the Archbishop myself and ran him through with my sword. There was a young man's body found sacrificed on the altar here, but on closer examination, I noticed that this was not Prince Albrecht. After killing the Archbishop, a portal appeared leading into level 16.

We entered the portal to level 16. Immediately we were surrounded by an army of Blood Knights and Advocates and had to fight our way through. We activated the skull levers in the order North, East, West, South. This opened up the room where Diablo, the Lord of Terror waits.
Looking back, Diablo did look like a demonic version of my brother, Prince Albrecht. We blasted him with Holy Bolts and roasted him with a Firewall spell. When, he finally died, his features dissolved leaving my brother's body in his place. I noticed a red soulstone protruding out of my dead brother's head. Wanting revenge on Diablo and the ability to contain him from causing further damage with my willpower, I rammed the red soulstone into my own head. This was excruciatingly painful, and I screamed realising what I just did. I wrapped myself in a hooded cloak and proceeded east out of civilised lands, seeking answers and perhaps salvation.
