It's not worth it. I'm not joking. It really is not worth it. Of course you could get lucky and get the best possible results on the first try. Think of it this way. If you went to the part of the game where these hammers drop off monsters and started collecting them, how many would you have to get before you got a good one? 30? 50? That's about how many you should expect to have to craft to get a good one. Better to save more money and buy a good one off the auction house.
I don't know why Blizzard made it that way. I would say it's supposed to be a money sink, but almost nobody actually sinks their money into it.
nutjob is wrong here. You cant compare the 2 considering every time you craft one its going to give you 6 properties and when farming for them you are going to get far less properties on average. I feel that it can be worth it, but nutjob is right in saying that you could get lucky or unlucky, no different than farming. good luck if you give it a shot :)
