Diablo® III

Major lag after Patch 1.05

When the game first came out for like the first two weeks it lagged major on Macs and one of their hotfixes finally fixed it.

Sadly I am getting much of that same lag again since updating to Patch 1.05. It seems like anything to do with the game takes forever. The game is like one second behind and sometimes it freezes for a whole few seconds. What's scary is that the game takes a minute to shut down and then my whole computer runs pretty slow for a few minutes after the game has closed.

This may be relating to textures being cached the first time they are loaded. Does the issue persist after playing awhile?

Also, is the "lag" just stuttering when new monsters are displayed, spells being cast, or is this overall low FPS even when you're in an area with no activity (going back to town after using the town portal)?

It's really a shame... the game worked fine for me since the release. Now, after downloading Patch 1.05 my eyes hurts with all the stuttering framerate and laggy input.

I am facing the same problem. When I start the game it works perfectly after a while, like 3 min, everything starts to freeze like a slow motion even if I came back to town. I need to restart the System and the same thing happens.

My lag was noticeable right when the game started. In the opening page for sign in, the crows in the background are not fluid and are slightly choppy. I essentially see this same choppiness in all aspects of the game, regardless of whether or not there is a lot of action going on in the game. The lag does not get better with time, either.

When I play with the resolution options and lower them to the lowest (which makes the game look terrible), the game runs smoothly. Prior to the patch update, I could run the game smoothly at the default resolution settings.

I'm sure after all of the comments made here and on other threads you and your colleagues at Blizzard recognize that this is not a case by case problem, but rather a systemwide problem with the patch that has affected many, many users. I hope you can figure out this problem soon, because currently the game is unplayable in its current form. Please post any other information you'd like from me.

Hi guys. I experienced a significant drop on my fps too. resetting the smc solved my problem:

Here's how to reset smc for mac retina:

Mac portables with non-user-removable batteries (MacBook Air and some late 2009 MacBook Pro models):

Shut down your Mac.

Connect the MagSafe power adapter to your Mac and to a power outlet.

On the built-in keyboard (this will not work from an external keyboard), simultaneously press and hold the left shift, control, and option keys while you press the power button. Release all keys at the same time.
Press the power button to start your Mac.

Give it a try, it's worth a shot.

I think we are all lagging after 1.05 it is not a average lag its like a screen freeze then it oddly jumps around then resumes and it happens consistantly. I have not played one smooth game today so i just am not playing tell blizzard find out whats going on i am waiting for this lag to be gone to resume hardcore for sure. . . Do your thing Blizzz Fix when you can for you customers

I am having the same problem. The game will just lag spike and when I click on skills and they dont' respond. When i run around, the game stutters, and when I move my mouse over enemies the frame rate drops big time. I have never had poor performance until the 1.05 patch. Now the game runs like crap.

I have been getting this problem a lot recently as well. The game runs fine but as soon as I encounter anything that isn't town I start getting huge lag and delay, it persists after I TP.
Usually my game runs around 24 fps, when it lags it jumps between around 17 and 4.

If I log out it persists back to the char select screen and login screen as well, I can exit the game client and it will be gone but as soon as I see something that isn't town again I start lagging.

Hey, so glad I found this post. Please help us blue, as this is fully a 1.05 problem.

Game lagged terribly for me until 1.02, then became really smooth for 1.03 and 1.04.
I was running around 50-65 fps for 1.04. Ever since 1.05 came out there has been severe rubber banding, especially when a lot is happening on the screen. I consistently sit under 30 fps in my games, whether it be single or multiplayer. The worst is that almost every time I face an elite pack my fps drops to around 9-14, then zips back up to around 20-30 once the pack is dead.

As mentioned, this only started happening once 1.05 came out!!
